To tell the truth I always enjoy taking my time with my makeup and I'd rather set the alarm clock 10 minutes early than rush on my skincare and makeup routine. However on a day when I'm simply chilling at home waiting for Mr Postman or I have to make a quick run for the post office or the supermarket, I tend to keep it easy and create an effortless face with a handful of trusty products.

When I'm in a hurry, blender sponges are my best friends. A few bounces on my skin are enough to achieve an even, air-brushed finish and blend foundation, concealer and cream blush together for a flawless look. My foundation of choice for easy looks is Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation (10.99£). It lasts well on my skin and it's almost a perfect match for my fair complexion. Its soft yellow undertone is enough to hide redness and little blemishes but if my skin needs an extra unf I add a bit of Bourjois Healthy Mix Correcting Concealer (6.99£) where I need it. It's a neutral based concealer that therefore works well on both imperfections and light dark circles, with the same radiant finish and skincare benefits of the foundation formula.

There's nothing quite like bright pinks to instantly lift and brighten the face. Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Glow in Liquifuschia (19£) it's an uber bright hot pink blush that might look quite scary in the pan but looks incredible on the skin. The formula blends beautifully and is well pigmented so a little goes a very long way. I can also dab it on my lips with my fingertips for a modern stain-ish effect that last well for a few hours without feeling drying. Another good double duty product for lips and cheeks is the Stila Convertible Color (16£) even if I don't find the formula equally comfortable on the lips.

Well-defined eyebrows are a must to balance out the bright lips and sculpted cheeks. A few strokes of MAC Fling Eye Brows (13£) and I'm good to go. I don't know how many of these I went through but I keep repurchasing it over and over again without fail. It's such a good match for my fair brows and fills in any gaps in a very natural way.
Last but not least I give a nice curl to my lashes and slap on my favourite mascara. A light coat of NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara (18.50£)  it's enough to hold the curl all day and both define and volumize my lashes for a barely-there day look.

Per dirla tutta mi piace prendermi il mio tempo con il trucco e preferisco mettere la sveglia 10 minuti prima piuttosto che fare le cose di corsa e magari saltare alcune fasi della mia routine di skincare e makeup. Però nei giorni in cui sono a casa nell'attesa dell'amico postino o devo fare una corsa veloce in posta o al supermercato,  tendo a restare sul semplice e mi limito a pochi prodotti fidati.

Quando sono di fretta la spugnetta tipo beauty blender è la mia migliore amica. Con pochi semplici gesti ottengo un risultato uniforme e professionale, sfumando perfettamente fondotinta, correttore e blush in crema. Il fondotinta che scelgo per tutti i giorni è il Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation (14.50€). Dura a lungo ed è un match quasi perfetto con la mia carnagione, per cui non devo perdere tempo a mischiare diverse tonalità. Il sottotono lievemente giallo è sufficiente a contrastare leggere discromie e nascondere piccole imperfezioni ma se ho bisogno di un aiuto extra, aggiungo un pizzico di  Bourjois Healthy Mix Correcting Concealer (9.16€) dove serve. E' un correttore a base neutra, per sui è perfetto per coprire sia brufoletti e co, sia occhiaie leggere, ed ha lo stesso finish luminoso ed il mix di vitamine del fondotinta, per trattare la pelle mentre lo si indossa.

Non c'è niente di meglio di un rosa acceso per illuminare il viso. Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Glow in Liquifuschia (22€) è un blush fuchsia brillante che fa un po' paura nella cialda ma che ha un effetto meraviglioso sulle guance. La formula si sfuma facilmente ed il colore è extra saturo, per cui una minima quantità è più che sufficiente. Lo picchietto anche sulle labbra per un effetto tinta molto moderno, che dura abbastanza a lungo senza seccare. Un'altro dei miei prodotti preferiti per questo doppio uso è il Convertible Color For Lips & Cheeks di Stila (18.50€), anche se non trovo la formula altrettanto confortevole sulle labbra.

Sopracciglia definite sono un must per bilanciare labbra brillanti e guance scolpite e con MAC Fling Eye Brows (17€) basta un tratteggio leggero. Ho perso il conto di quante di queste matite ho utilizzato ma continuo a ricomprarla ancora ed ancora. E' il colore perfetto per le mie sopracciglia chiare e riempie i buchi e ridefinisce le lunghezze in modo molto naturale.
Non può mancare il mascara, ma solo dopo aver dato una buona piega alle mie ciglia drittissime. Una passata leggera di NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara (21.50€) è abbastanza per mantenere la piega e definire e dare volume allo stesso tempo, ma senza esagerare per un perfetto look da giorno.

The Event: Youngblood Press Cocktail

A few days ago I attended press day for Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics to check out the line and steal some tips on mineral makeup application. I've been curious about Youngblood for a while now but I've never had the chance to play with the products before.
Knowing the line was created purposely for traumatized skins from cosmetic surgeries and laser treatments and skin conditions such as acne and rosacea, I was expecting something tamed and a bit dull to be honest; instead I discovered an all-around line, completed with tools - oh, those kitten-soft brushes, they did really steal my heart! - and even mineral setting mists - I recommend you try the Mint and Ginger one for an immediate energy boost -. For someone used to MAC and INGLOT's shade range, the selection might look a little boring at first, but there's something for everyone in the line, which includes universally flattering shades and beautiful, natural hues with the occasional burst of bright teal and red and glossy fuchsia and tangerine. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of foundation formulas and finishes and I really enjoyed the shimmering, long-wearing cream blushes; but the main thing I got really excited about is the not quite creamy, not quite powdery texture of the eyeshadows. Actually the Vintage eyeshadow quad might have accidentally worked its way inside my endless wishlist.
Overall a very interesting line, definitely worth checking out, especially if you have problematic or sensitive skin. Not the most affordable makeup line for sure, but keep in mind that first rate ingredients don't come for free.

Qualche giorno fa ho partecipato all'evento Youngblood Mineral Comsetics per scoprire il marchio e rubacchiare qua e là qualche dritta sull'applicazione del trucco minerale. Era da un po' che volevo provare i prodotti Youngblood ma non ce n'era mai stata occasione prima, complice anche la scarsa disponibilità e la desolazione del corner presso l'Excelsior di Milano.
Sapendo che si tratta di una linea nata principalmente dalla necessità di offrire prodotti di qualità per pelli traumatizzate da trattamenti estetici e chirurgici ed affette da particolari problematiche, come acne e rosacea, mi aspettavo la solita linea un po' moscia e poco varia; invece ho scoperto un range assolutamente completo, che include anche morbidissimi pennelli che mi hanno davvero rubato il cuore e persino una serie di spray fissanti aromatizzati con oli naturali per effetti diversi - assolutamente da provare il Minerals in the mist alla menta e zenzero per un'immediata sferzata di energia -. Per qualcuno abituato alle mille sfumature di MAC ed INGLOT, la linea Youngblood può sembrare noiosetta all'inizio, ma c'è qualcosa per tutte le esigenze nella gamma, che include principalmente tonalità naturali adatte ad ogni incarnato, con l'occasionale comparsa di ottanio e rossi brillanti e fuchsia e mandarino luminosi. La varietà di finish e texture è stata una sorpresa - una scelta così ampia non è frequente tra i marchi con target così specifico - ed ho molto apprezzato i blush in crema dal finish luminoso ma a lunga durata. Ma a catturare la mia attenzione in particolare sono stati gli ombretti, con il loro finish un po' cremoso, un po' setoso. Il quad nei toni del rosa e borgogna Vintage potrebbe essere entrato accidentalmente nella mia wishlist senza fine.
In generale un brand interessante, che potete trovare in esclusiva nelle profumerie La Gardenia e cui vale senz'altro la pena dare un'occhiata. Certo, i prezzi non sono tra i più abbordabili, ma soprattutto per pelli sensibili e problematiche vale la pena investire in ingredienti di qualità.

001 The Gucci lady at the mall sprayed me by surprise the other day and the only reason I didn't bite her head off is I actually love the scent. Glorious Mandarin doesn't really have a citrusy smell as I expected but it's fresh and crisp and the floral notes add a nice balance to the mix. I think 'happy' would be the perfect word to describe this scent. So lovely.

002 I'm not big on lip glosses but sometimes in the summer lipsticks can feel too heavy and I can barely stand wearing them. KORRES Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Lip Cooler is both a treatment and a non-sticky gloss: the formula contains micro exfoliating beads to get rid of dry skin and Greek yogurt proteins to nourish the lips. The doe-foot applicator also features a rollerball for an extra cooling and soothing effect. Sounds like a gimmick to be honest but I'm curious to give it a try.

003 If all goes well I'll be going on a cruise at the end of September for a job. I haven't done a serious trip in ages and I need to update my brush packing system, because I'll need to pack my own and the ones for the freelance job as well. I actually saw a fellow makeup artist use the Large Brush Roll by MAC at school and it looked extremely practical and roomy, with a lot of space for your brushes and a nice zippered pouch for pencils, disposables and extra tools.

004 Super-charged Greek yogurt proteins? Facial-in-a -jar? SOLD. KORRES Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Facial is one of the most hyped up products of the season and according to the enthusiastic reviews I've been reading lately, this uber hydrating and smoothing night mask is truly a life changer. We'll see.

005 I recently swatched it in store and NARS Strada stole my heart right away. At first I was a little unsure about the quite noticeable gold glitters; however the amethyst shade is just perfect for my coloring. Unfortunately I read is very hard to work with so maybe I'll look for a dupe first. Have you tried it?

001 Qualche giorno fa la presentatrice Gucci fuori dalLa Gardenia me lo ha spruzzato di sorpresa, senza aspettare che le rispondessi e l'unico motivo per cui non me la sono mangiata è che il profumo è davvero una meraviglia. Glorious mandarin non ha il profumo deciso di agrume che mi sarei aspettata, ma è fresco e frizzante, con delle note floreali che danno equilibrio ed alleggeriscono l'essenza fruttata. E' una di quelle fragranze che mettono di buon umore. Da annusare.

002 Non amo particolarmente i gloss per labbra ma può capitare, quando fa caldo, che i rossetti mi diano fastidio perchè troppo pesanti. KORRES Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Lip Coolerè allo stesso tempo un gloss non appiccicoso ed un trattamento: contiene delle microsfere esfolianti che eliminano la pelle secca e proteine di yogurt greco per nutrire le labbra in profondità. E l'applicatore doe-foot è dotato di una biglia massaggiatrice per un effetto rinfrescante. Sembra un miscuglio improbabile di caratteristiche accattivanti ma sarei davvero curiosa di provarne uno.

003 Se tutto andrà nel verso giusto a fine settembre dovrei prendere parte ad una crociera per un lavoro. E' un bel po' che non faccio un viaggio degno di essere chiamato tale, per cui devo aggiornare il mio metodo di imballaggio, soprattutto per quanto riguarda i pennelli, visto che dovrò portare quelli per uso personale e quelli per il lavoro freelance. Di recente ho visto una collega makeup artist utilizzare il Brush Roll Large di MAC dopo una lezione e mi è sembrato molto comodo ed ampio, con tanti spazi per i pennelli ed una pochette con zip inclusa per spugnette, applicatori usa e getta e strumenti extra.

004 Infusione di proteine di yogurt greco? Facial-in-barattolo? VENDUTO. KORRES Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Facial è uno dei prodotti di cui si sente parlare di più ultimamente ed a giudicare dalle recensioni entusiaste che leggo qua e là, questa maschera notte ultra idratante e lisciante è un prodotto miracoloso. Vedremo.

005 L'ho swatchato durante la mia ultima visita da Sephora e NARS Strada mi ha subito rubato il cuore. All'inizio i glitter dorati stra-evidenti mi hanno lasciata perplessa, ma d'altra parte la tonalità ametista è perfetta per la mia carnagione. Sfortunatamente pare sia molto difficile da lavorare, per cui credo che cercherò un dupe prima di lanciarmi nell'acquisto. Voi l'avete provato per caso?
