Looking back at 2013, there are a few products that pop into my mind whenever I think about my best beauty discoveries. Last year I stumbled across some amazing releases and caught up with some blogger favourites and recommendations and these are the 13 products that made it to my favourites list - get comfy, it's a long one -.

Starting up with skin, last year I developed a wee bit obsession with skincare products and face masks in particular; I've collected a few along the way but the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (£30) is probably the one I've used the most and the one I reach for every time I long for that extra boost of radiance. It's a great way to approach chemical exfoliators for all skin types - including sensitive complexions like mine -, because it's packed with amazing ingredients and gentle but effective at the same time. It leaves my skin feeling and looking uber bright and like new in just a handful of minutes.
For a daily dose of luminosity I couldn't live without the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream (£23), which not only brightens and de-puffs the under-eye area but creates a flawless base for my concealer. Soft pink hues and loads of natural reflective particles help to banish dark circles and make you look fresh and awake.
I also fell in love with the Hydraluron Moisture Booster (£24.99), a fantastic serum that helps lock the moisture into the skin and quickly improves the appearance of dehydrated complexions. I use it every morning before my moisturizer and it's definitely one of the best skincare products I've tried.

Moving on to hair stuff, I'm still deeply in love with the Living Proof Prime Style Extender (£18). This amazing hair primer - which is still a quite odd thing to think about - really changed my styling routine: my hair stay clean for longer without losing their volume and also hold whatever style I decide to create twice as long as before. It doesn't weight my hair down and a tiny blob goes a very long way, so it's definitely worth the investment.
Another styling must have for me is the Bumble and Bumble BB Texture (£10), absolutely great to give extra grip to freshly washed hair without making them look greasy. It's perfect to tame soft and fluffy hair and make them more manageable and a lot easier to style, while adding some extra volume as well. Of course it couldn't be a serious hair talk without my beloved Tangle Teezer (£10.20) in Disco Purple. At first I purchased the travel size brush, which comes in handy on the go, but the full sized one has really changed my life. It makes it easier to brush my hair while still in the shower and work hair masks and styling products into my locks. I definitely noticed less fly-aways and decreased hair loss lately; if you're wondering if it's worth the splurge, you get a big thumbs-up from me here.

Makeup wise, I think the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (£38) in Diffused doesn't need any further introduction at this point. It's easily my best purchase of year and something I cant live without anymore: it's a Photoshop brush that blurs away pores and imperfection, disguised as a luminous setting powder. It's definitely worth the hype.
For concealer, at the beginning of the year I kept going on and on about the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (£21) which is excellent for the under-eye area, as it offers the perfect combination of moisturizing yet long wearing formula and great coverage. Early in September, however, I fell and fell hard for the Origins Plantscription Anti-aging Concealer (£17) that made me put its NARS counterpart aside. It's moisturizing, a perfect match for my skin tone and really brightening, thanks to the peachy hues. I use it on my dark circles and on my blemishes as well and I can't go without it anymore. I have a soft spot for treatment makeup - you all know that by now - and this product is definitely a top favourite of mine and possibly a forever repurchase.
Last but not least for the base, I can't stress you enough about how amazing the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (£34.50) is: it's light on the skin, long lasting and looks absolutely flawless. The finish is radiant and oh so natural and the coverage is easy to customize for effortless day-wear or nifty night-outs.

Of all the beauty brands I've approached in two thousand thirteen Charlotte Tilbury's own makeup line is the one that truly stood out to me and completely knocked it out of the park, thanks to fabulous textures, stunning '20s-inspired packaging and an overall outstanding quality. Something I use on a daily basis is the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow (£49) to bring some Hollywood glamour to my skin. The luminous powder gives the most stunning candlelight glow to my cheekbones, bridge of the nose and Cupid's bow, while the tan side is great both to warm up my complexion and sculpt the hollows of my cheeks for fuss-free, day-appropriate contouring. Finally, my crush for the amazing Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Eyeshadow Palette (£38) in Golden Goddess can't simply go unnoticed. It features three buttery soft eyeshadow and a pressed glitter shade to spice up any look; the shades included in this quad aren't particularly groundbreaking but their quality is absolutely striking and I can't recommend it enough.

Lastly on to perfumes, I've never been the loyal type when it comes down to fragrances but the Diptyque Philosykos edt (£50) won my heart and became my signature fragrance throughout summer and fall, with some little features here and there even in winter time. It's sweet and fresh, persistent but never overwhelming and if you've been around here long enough you'll know everything about my fig obsession, so I'll stop rambling right now.

Guardando indietro al 2013, ci sono alcuni prodotti che mi vengono immediatamente in mente se penso alle mie migliori scoperte beauty. L'anno scorso mi sono imbattuta in alcune novità eccezionali ma ho anche seguito raccomandazioni e consigli di amici ed altre blogger, e scoperto cosa mi perdevo dopo aver recuperato alcuni dei loro prodotti top; questi sono i tredici prodotti che ho amato di più l'anno passato - mettetevi comode, perchè ci vorrà un po' -.

Cominciando dalla pelle, l'anno scorso ho sviluppato una discreta ossessione per i prodotti skincare ed in particolare per le maschere viso; ne ho collezionate un bel po' ma la REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (€33) è probabilmente quella che ho utilizzato più spesso e su cui faccio affidamento ogni volta che necessito di una dose di radiosità extra. E' un buon modo per avvicinarsi agli scrub chimici visto che contiene ottimi ingredienti naturali ed è efficace ma comunque delicata allo stesso tempo. Lascia la pelle più luminosa e come nuova in una manciata di minuti.
Per un'iniezione quotidiana di luminosità non posso rinunciare alla Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream (€27), una crema occhi che non solo illumina e sgonfia in contorno occhi, ma è anche un'ottima base per il correttore. Un sottotono rosa appena accennato e milioni di particelle riflettenti aiutano a nascondere le occhiaie e donano allo sguardo un aspetto fresco e riposato.
Mi sono anche innamorata dell'Hydraluron Moisture Booster (€23.70), un fantastico siero che sigilla l'idratazione negli strati più profondi della cute e migliora rapidamente l'aspetto della pelle disidratata. Lo utilizzo tutte le mattine prima della crema da giorno ed è di sicuro uno dei prodotti più efficaci che abbia testato.

Passando ai prodotti per capelli, sono ancora innamorata persa del Living Proof Prime Style Extender (€21). Questo fantastico primer per capelli - è ancora un concetto stranissimo se ci penso - ha davvero cambiato il modo in cui mi approccio allo styling e la mia routine in toto: i capelli restano puliti più a lungo senza perdere volume e mantengono qualsivoglia acconciatura per molto più tempo rispetto a prima. Non appesantisce assolutamente le ciocche ed una piccola quantità è più che sufficiente, per cui vale davvero l'investimento.
Una scoperta più recente ma ugualmente irrinunciabile è il Bumble and Bumble BB Texture (€12), ottimo per aggiungere tenuta ed un po' di spessore ai capelli appena lavati, senza però sporcarli. Aiuta a domare le chiome più soffici e sottili rendendole più facili da acconciare e aggiungendo allo stesso tempo un po' di volume.
Naturalmente non posso trascurare un oggetto indispensabile per la cura di tutti i giorni, il mio amato Tangle Teezer (€12.50) nel colore Disco Purple. In un primo momento avevo acquistato la versione pocket, che è comunque comodissima in viaggio o da tenere in borsa, ma la versione originale mi ha davvero cambiato la vita. Spazzolare i capelli ancora in doccia non è più un problema e distribuire maschere o prodotti per lo styling su tutte le ciocche è ormai questione di pochi colpi di spazzola. Ho notato un deciso calo di capelli spezzati e caduti, per cui se siete ancora in dubbio sull'acquisto, dalla sottoscritta avrete una bella spinta e pollici in su.

Per quanto riguarda il makeup, credo che l'Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (€46) in Diffused non abbia bisogno di un'ulteriore introduzione. Penso di poterlo definire tranquillamente il miglior acquisto dell'anno passato ed è comunque un prodotto di cui ormai non posso più fare a meno: è un pennello di Photoshop che riduce imperfezioni e pori in una sola passata, mascherato da polvere illuminante per fissare il trucco. E' sulla bocca di tutti ma per un buon motivo, ve lo assicuro.
Passando ai correttori, all'inizio dell'anno non facevo altro che parlare del NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (€26), che è eccellente soprattutto per la zona occhiaie - Vanilla e Chantilly che sono i miei colori purtroppo sono troppo rosati da utilizzare sulle imperfezioni -, perchè combina una formula idratante ma comunque a lunga durata ed un'ottima coprenza. All'inizio di Settembre, però, ho provato l'Origins Plantscription Anti-aging Concealer (€20) e l'ho amato talmente tanto da accantonare la sua controparte NARS senza rimpianti. E' idratante, un match perfetto con la mia carnagione e dall'effetto illuminante grazie ai toni pesca della tonalità Fair. Ho un debole per il makeup trattamento - ormai lo sanno anche i sassi - e questo è di sicuro uno dei miei prodotti preferiti di sempre e, perchè no, che continuerò a ricomprare per molto tempo.
Per concludere con la base, torno a sottolineare ancora una volta quanto sia fantastico il Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (€44.95): è leggero sulla pelle, quasi impalpabile, dura a lungo e crea una base praticamente perfetta. Il finish è radioso e super naturale e la coprenza è facilmente modulabile per i look da tutti i giorni o per un evento speciale.

Di tutte le marche che ho scoperto o a cui mi sono avvicinata nel 2013, la linea di Charlotte Tilbury è quella che senza dubbio si è distinta di più, mettendo tutti gli altri brand un po' in ombra, grazie alle texture favolose, il packaging mozzafiato d'ispirazione anni '20 ed in generale una qualità incredibile. Un prodotto che uso ormai quotidianamente per aggiungere un pizzico di glamour Holliwoodiano al mio makeup  è il Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow (€59). La polvere illuminante dona a zigomi, ponte del naso ed arco di Cupido un bagliore delizioso color champagne; il bronzer invece è perfetto sia per scaldare l'incarnato sia per definire i contorni del viso in modo delicato e credibile, perfetto per il giorno. Infine, come dimenticare la palette che mi ha rubato il cuore, ovvero la Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Eyeshadow Palette (€46) in Golden Goddess. Contiene tre ombretti dalla texture soffice e setosa più un glitter pressato per aggiungere un po' di brio ad ogni look; di certo i colori di questa palette non sono particolarmente unici o innovativi ma la qualità è straordinaria, per cui non posso far altro che raccomandarla caldamente.

Per finire, un profumo. Non sono mai stata il tipo da utilizzare lo stesso profumo con costanza, ma Diptyque Philosykos edt (€69) mi ha conquistata ed è diventato la mia fragranza caratteristica per l'estate e l'autunno, facendo capolino qua e là persino nelle giornate più fredde. E' dolce e fresco, persistente ma non opprimente e se è un po' che mi leggete, ormai saprete tutto della mia ossessione per il profumo di fico, per cui la smetto subito prima di cominciare a blaterare.

Fab Five: Favourite Drugstore Concealers

Revlon Colorstay Concealer // Collection  Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer // Revlon Photoready Concealer // Bourjois Healthy Mix Radiance & Anti-fatigue Concealer // Bourjois Happy Light Ultra-covering Concealer

I don't usually venture down supermarket aisles for my makeup, especially when it comes down to foundations and concealers; sensitive skin and cheap products don't usually go well together and I should probably add that the typical drugstore shade range doesn't embrace ghostly-pale complexions like mine too often. However I do own some wallet-pleasing gems that I collected along the way, and some of them are definitely well loved and even part of my daily routine.

Stick concealers are not my first choice for my particular skin type - they tend to be quite drying and look heavy on me -, however they are perfect for oilier complexions and a great resource for bad skin days. The Revlon Photoready Concealer (£6.49)'s high coverage formula is thick and creamy, almost hard to blend but perfect for spot concealing. I wouldn't use it on larger areas or around the eyes because it still looks a bit too obvious for my liking and those who love a radiant finish should definitely look away, but it does the job and lasts very well throughout the day. Also from Revlon, the Colorstay Concealer (£6.99) is a good option for dry complexions and radiant skin lovers. It's quite luminous, therefore it could not be the smartest choice if you're looking to cover raised spots, but on the other hand is brilliant for the under-eyes and for scars and hyperpigmentation. The coverage is high enough to conceal even the most stubborn dark circles and as the name suggests it stays put for many hours without budging or looking dry and cakey.

Everyone and their grandmothers have probably heard of the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer (£4.19). I gave in to the hype a few months ago and let me tell you, it was love at very first swipe. For such a light consistency, the pigmentation is really amazing. It blends well, lasts all day and is uber easy to build for the ultimate flawless coverage. I find it a little too dry to use for my dark circles but it does wonders on any blemish and discolouration and it has quickly become a staple of mine.
A great all-arounder, that works well on both imperfections and darkness under the eyes, is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer (£7.99). This is like a high-end concealer disguised inside a cheap packaging, with an extra fruit therapy boost to improve radiance and micro circulation. I'm totally in love with the fruit salad scent and the light-as-air texture. It blends seamlessly, providing great coverage and a super natural appearance, in a 'my skin but better' kind of way. The neutral yellow-ish undertones work well at counteracting redness and brightening as well.

Finally, the most recent addition to my concealer stash is a bit of a bitter sweet find. As the packaging states, the Bourjois Happy Light Ultra-covering Concealer (£8.99) delivers an amazing coverage which is medium to full, depending on the application method. Consistency is quite dense, almost waxy, and I find it's best applied with fingertips, to warm the product up and blend it more easily. It lasts a very long time and doesn't move around or build up into fine lines. It makes the skin look really soft and supple, with an inner radiance that looks very nice particularly in the under-eye area. I do like this concealer a lot; the problem is it only comes in two shades, 22 Beige Rose and 21 Ivoire, which is the lightest of the two and the one I picked up, assuming it would match my 51 Healthy Mix Foundation. Unfortunately it's a bit darker than that - it settles between 51 and 52, I'd say - and requires a lot of blending to look good on my lighter base. Bourjois really needs to work on the shade range, which is definitely not as good as the products themselves at this stage.

Di norma non mi avventuro tanto spesso tra le corsie del supermercato per comprare makeup, in special modo se si tratta di correttori e fondotinta; pelle sensibile ed ingredienti a buon mercato non vanno sempre d'accordo, senza nemmeno menzionare la generale penuria di colori adatti ai fantasmini come me. Ci sono però alcuni prodotti amici del portafoglio che ho scovato quà e là, e che sono stati o sono tutt'ora dei punti fermi della mia routine.

I correttori in stick non sono la mia prima scelta per il mio particolare tipo di pelle - tendono a sembrare ancora più secchi e molto evidenti -, però sono perfetti per le pelli più grasse ed un ottimo alleato per nascondere i brufoletti più testardi. La formula ad alta coprenza del Revlon Photoready Concealer (€10.95) è molto spessa e densa, quasi difficile da stendere all'inizio, e quindi perfetta per le correzioni di precisione. Non credo lo userei su aree più ampie o vicino agli occhi perchè l'effetto cerone è dietro l'angolo; inoltre gli amanti del finish luminoso dovrebbero tenersene ben alla larga, ma fa il suo lavoro e la correzione resiste praticamente intatta per tutta la giornata. Sempre di Revlon, il Colorstay Concealer (€10.95)è più adatto per pelli più secche e per chi cerca un effetto più naturale. E' discretamente luminoso, quindi potrebbe non essere il prodotto giusto per coprire imperfezioni e cisti, ma d'altra parte è fantastico per la zona perioculare, cicatrici e iperpigmentazione. E' abbastanza coprente da correggere occhiaie anche molto pronunciate e come il nome suggerisce resta al suo posto per molte ore senza seccare.

Credo che a questo punto anche mia nonna abbia sentito parlare del Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer (€5). Ho ceduto al tam tam dei blog inglesi qualche mese fa e devo ammetterlo, è stato amore a prima applicazione. Per una texture così leggera, la pigmentazione è incredibile. Si sfuma con facilità, dura tutto il giorno ed è semplice da modulare per una coprenza perfetta. Personalmente lo trovo un po' troppo secco per la zona occhiaie ma è magnifico su rossori ed imperfezioni, tanto che è diventato indispensabile per la mia base.
Un correttore estremamente versatile, che copre perfettamente sia occhiaie sia brufoletti e cicatrici è il Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer (€9). Nel dubbio io lo scambierei per un correttore molto più costoso nascosto in un tubetto di poco conto, con una sferzata extra di vitamine della frutta per migliorare la micro circolazione e la luminosità del'incarnato. Sono innamorata persa del profumo di macedonia di frutta e della texture leggera come l'aria. Sulla pelle appare così naturale da sembrare impercettibile, come 'la mia pelle ma meglio', e copre qualunque imperfezione senza problemi. Il sottotono giallo appena accennato contrasta i rossori ed illumina il colorito, donando immediatamente un aspetto più riposato.

Per finire, l'ultimo arrivato nella mia collezione è una scoperta dolce-amara. Come anticipato dalla confezione, il Bourjois Happy Light Ultra-covering Concealer (€9.60)offre una coprenza spettacolare che va da media a totale, a seconda dell'applicazione. La consistenza è piuttosto densa, quasi cerosa, e trovo che il modo migliore per applicare il prodotto sia con le dita, per scaldarlo e così sfumarlo più facilmente. La durata è altrettanto eccezionale, non si muove nè si accumula nelle pieghette. Regala alla pelle un aspetto pieno e morbido, con una luminosità appena percettibile che dona particolarmente alla zona perioculare, illuminando lo sguardo. Mi piace molto ma c'è un problema: è disponibile in sole due tonalità, 22 Beige Rose e 21 Ivoire, che è la più chiara delle due e quella che ho acquistato, convinta che si abbinasse al mio fondotinta Healthy Mix #51. Purtroppo è più scuro - direi che si avvicina più alla tonalità 52 - e richiede un bel po' di lavoro aggiuntivo per sembrare naturale sulla mia base più chiara. Qualcuno alla Bourjois deve mettersi d'impegno e lavorare sulla gamma di colori perchè, così com'è, non è all'altezza della qualità dei prodotti.

Any self-respecting makeup lover's stash is packed with little gems and dozens of beauty favourites. However we can count the products we really rely on when we want to feel special and glamorous on the fingers of one hand. For instance, to recreate my signature look I like to wear for nights out or special events, when I don't want to worry about flash-backs and ghost faces or touch ups, I only need a few trusty products.

Skin is my favourite feature, so of course I like to take my time to perfect it and make it look flawless. NARS Sheer Glow (30.50£) is the foundation I rely on when I need my base to stay put all night and look glowy and natural, despite the great coverage. It's more of an autumn-winter foundation but it resist well to summer heat as well. I take my time to buff it into the skin and blend it well for it's much pigmented and a little goes a long way. It has no spf in it so it's perfect for night time and it photographs really well. Usually I wouldn't feel the need to set it with powder because it lasts quite well on my dry skin but I can't say no to a thin veil of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused (38£). The latest addition to my powders stash doesn't add any coverage or sit on the skin like traditional powders, but diffuses and softens light in an uber flattering way. It's not an oil-control powder but sets the base and due to its soft yellow hues, Diffused subtly corrects redness and minimizes imperfections. It's like a fairy godmother in compact form and it's perfect for touch-ups because, no matter how many layers you apply, it never looks cakey. For the night I tend to put my beloved cream blushes to the side and turn toward powder formulas instead. MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush (20£) it's the perfect burnt peach to define and sculpt the cheeks, while the soft gold flecks give a gorgeous Victoria Secrets glow. It's such an underrated blush; it deserves so much more love in my opinion. It complements pretty much every look, from bold lips to smokey eyes.

For the day I gravitate towards soft smokey eyes or simple liners and bright lips. However in the evening I prefer to draw attention to the eyes and I tend to go for sultry smokey looks. I purposely created this eyeshadow quad with MAC Pro Palette Refills Pans (10£) in the shades Retrospect, Bronze, Romp and Club to create a beautiful bronze-ish gradient. I finish off the look with a fine line of black liner, a generous coat of mascara and of course a pair of my favourite lashes. MAC #33 Lashes (10£) are super comfortable and look so natural, especially when cut in half and worn as accent lashes. They are the kind of lashes that make people wonder if you're actually wearing falsies or you've finally found the best mascara.

I cassetti di una fanatica di makeup che si rispetti sono pieni di piccoli gioiellini e dozzine di preferiti. Eppure i prodotti di cui ci fidiamo davvero e a cui ricorriamo quando vogliamo sentirci straordinarie, sono pochi e si contano sulle dita di una mano. Per esempio, per creare il mio look preferito per serate speciali ed eventi, quando non voglio preocuparmi di flash-back e faccie da fantasma nelle foto e ritocchi vari, utilizzo sempre questi pochi, fidati prodotti.

La base è la mia parte preferita, per cui amo stenderla con calma e cura per rendere la pelle perfetta. Il NARS Sheer Glow (37.80€) è il fondotinta su cui conto quando voglio che la base resti intatta tutta la sera e sembri luminosa e naturale, nonostante l'ottima coprenza. E' più che altro un fondo adatto alla stagione fredda, ma resiste bene anche al caldo. Mi prendo alcuni minuti per stenderlo e sfumarlo bene, perchè la coprenza è incredibile, ne serve davvero pochissimo e la fretta oppure una quantità eccessiva potrebbero avere effetti disastrosi. Non contiene spf, per cui è perfetto per la sera e per le fotografie. Normalmente non mi preoccuperei di fissarlo con una cipria, perchè dura a lungo sulla mia pelle secca, però non so dire no ad un velo di Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused (44€). L'ultima arrivata nella mia collezione di ciprie non aggiunge coprenza e non è evidente come le polveri fissanti tradizionali, ma diffonde ed ammorbidisce la luce migliorando l'aspetto della pelle. Forse non è un granchè a trattenere gli oli dopo le canoniche 4-5 ore, ma fissa la base e grazie al leggero sottotono giallo, Diffused contrasta i rossori e riduce l'aspetto delle imperfezioni. E' come una fata madrina in un porta cipria ed è perfetta per i ritocchi, perchè non importa quante volte si riapplichi, resta sempre impeccabile. Per la sera metto da parte i miei amati blush in crema e preferisco le formule in polvere. MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush (25.50€)è un delizioso terracotta chiaro, perfetto per scolpire e definire gli zigomi, mentre l'iridescenza dorata dona alla pelle una radiosità degna degli Angeli di Victoria Secret. E' un blush di cui si parla poco, ma che meriterebbe molto più amore. Accompagna a meraviglia ogni tipo di look, dalle labbra più audaci agli smokey più carichi.

Per il trucco giorno gravito intorno a ombretti leggeri o semplici eyeliner e rossetti accesi. Al contrario di sera preferisco spostare l'attenzione sugli occhi, con smokey carichi e ricchi. Per questo ho messo insieme una palette con quattro MAC Pro Palette Refills Pans (13.50€)nelle tonalità Retrospect, Bronze, Romp e Club che utilizzo tutti insieme per creare un bellissimo gradiente sui toni del bronzo. Completo il look con una linea sottile di eyeliner nero, una generosa passata di mascara e naturalmente un paio delle mie ciglia finte preferite. Le MAC #33 Lashes (13€) quasi non si sentono addosso e sono assolutamente naturali, soprattutto se tagliate a metà ed indossate come ciglia accent, come piace a me. Sono quel genere di ciglia che fanno sgranare gli occhi alle amiche, che domandano speranzose 'ma che mascara è quello?'.

To tell the truth I always enjoy taking my time with my makeup and I'd rather set the alarm clock 10 minutes early than rush on my skincare and makeup routine. However on a day when I'm simply chilling at home waiting for Mr Postman or I have to make a quick run for the post office or the supermarket, I tend to keep it easy and create an effortless face with a handful of trusty products.

When I'm in a hurry, blender sponges are my best friends. A few bounces on my skin are enough to achieve an even, air-brushed finish and blend foundation, concealer and cream blush together for a flawless look. My foundation of choice for easy looks is Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation (10.99£). It lasts well on my skin and it's almost a perfect match for my fair complexion. Its soft yellow undertone is enough to hide redness and little blemishes but if my skin needs an extra unf I add a bit of Bourjois Healthy Mix Correcting Concealer (6.99£) where I need it. It's a neutral based concealer that therefore works well on both imperfections and light dark circles, with the same radiant finish and skincare benefits of the foundation formula.

There's nothing quite like bright pinks to instantly lift and brighten the face. Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Glow in Liquifuschia (19£) it's an uber bright hot pink blush that might look quite scary in the pan but looks incredible on the skin. The formula blends beautifully and is well pigmented so a little goes a very long way. I can also dab it on my lips with my fingertips for a modern stain-ish effect that last well for a few hours without feeling drying. Another good double duty product for lips and cheeks is the Stila Convertible Color (16£) even if I don't find the formula equally comfortable on the lips.

Well-defined eyebrows are a must to balance out the bright lips and sculpted cheeks. A few strokes of MAC Fling Eye Brows (13£) and I'm good to go. I don't know how many of these I went through but I keep repurchasing it over and over again without fail. It's such a good match for my fair brows and fills in any gaps in a very natural way.
Last but not least I give a nice curl to my lashes and slap on my favourite mascara. A light coat of NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara (18.50£)  it's enough to hold the curl all day and both define and volumize my lashes for a barely-there day look.

Per dirla tutta mi piace prendermi il mio tempo con il trucco e preferisco mettere la sveglia 10 minuti prima piuttosto che fare le cose di corsa e magari saltare alcune fasi della mia routine di skincare e makeup. Però nei giorni in cui sono a casa nell'attesa dell'amico postino o devo fare una corsa veloce in posta o al supermercato,  tendo a restare sul semplice e mi limito a pochi prodotti fidati.

Quando sono di fretta la spugnetta tipo beauty blender è la mia migliore amica. Con pochi semplici gesti ottengo un risultato uniforme e professionale, sfumando perfettamente fondotinta, correttore e blush in crema. Il fondotinta che scelgo per tutti i giorni è il Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation (14.50€). Dura a lungo ed è un match quasi perfetto con la mia carnagione, per cui non devo perdere tempo a mischiare diverse tonalità. Il sottotono lievemente giallo è sufficiente a contrastare leggere discromie e nascondere piccole imperfezioni ma se ho bisogno di un aiuto extra, aggiungo un pizzico di  Bourjois Healthy Mix Correcting Concealer (9.16€) dove serve. E' un correttore a base neutra, per sui è perfetto per coprire sia brufoletti e co, sia occhiaie leggere, ed ha lo stesso finish luminoso ed il mix di vitamine del fondotinta, per trattare la pelle mentre lo si indossa.

Non c'è niente di meglio di un rosa acceso per illuminare il viso. Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Glow in Liquifuschia (22€) è un blush fuchsia brillante che fa un po' paura nella cialda ma che ha un effetto meraviglioso sulle guance. La formula si sfuma facilmente ed il colore è extra saturo, per cui una minima quantità è più che sufficiente. Lo picchietto anche sulle labbra per un effetto tinta molto moderno, che dura abbastanza a lungo senza seccare. Un'altro dei miei prodotti preferiti per questo doppio uso è il Convertible Color For Lips & Cheeks di Stila (18.50€), anche se non trovo la formula altrettanto confortevole sulle labbra.

Sopracciglia definite sono un must per bilanciare labbra brillanti e guance scolpite e con MAC Fling Eye Brows (17€) basta un tratteggio leggero. Ho perso il conto di quante di queste matite ho utilizzato ma continuo a ricomprarla ancora ed ancora. E' il colore perfetto per le mie sopracciglia chiare e riempie i buchi e ridefinisce le lunghezze in modo molto naturale.
Non può mancare il mascara, ma solo dopo aver dato una buona piega alle mie ciglia drittissime. Una passata leggera di NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara (21.50€) è abbastanza per mantenere la piega e definire e dare volume allo stesso tempo, ma senza esagerare per un perfetto look da giorno.

Spot the difference: spot treatments run-down

Even though I'm blessed with pretty decent skin, I enjoy trying new stuff too much to really stick to one product long enough for my skin to get used to it and for this reason a few stress break-outs now and then are to be expected. Fortunately I put together a little emergency squad ready to come to the rescue whenever that happens.

Etat pur Pure activ A22 Slicylic acid 300 £12.20/€12.90 // Origins Super spot remover £13/€16 // Liz Earle Spot-on £8.50//€10.50

The Origins Super spot remover is something I've been using for a while now. I wrote a thorough review if you want to take a look at it (here) and I still reach for it as an overnight treatment to strike down those annoying zits that come to say hello as regular as clockwork every month. I like to use it at night because as the anti-bacterial formula acts, the blemish gets very red for some time and becomes trickier to cover with concealer. Also the healing concentrate is so potent in this it can be a little drying on the area and as the day goes by it can make the spot look flaky and the makeup a bit cakey.

The next product was a little disappointing for me but it's worth mentioning anyways, even though I just found out it has been temporarily discontinued due to some problems sourcing one of the ingredients. The Liz Earl Spot-on is a mixture of vitamin E and pure essential oils of tea tree, lavender and melissa with the most overwhelming eye-watering smell ever. Unfortunately it didn't do anything to improve the healing process of my blemishes and the roll-on applicator is quite sloppy, but helps a lot with pain relief and it's amazing on mosquito bites. Yay for double duty products!

Finally the most recent addition to my rescue team is the Etat pur Pure activ A22 Salicylic acid 300. This comes in the smartest packaging ever: pressing the bottom you push out of the dropper just the right amount of product you're going to need for each spot, which saves on waste and keeps everything very sanitary. Unlike its Origins equivalent it doesn't sting and can be used as preventive measure to stop a zit before it actually pokes out because the formula isn't drying at all.

Anche se sono fortunata ed ho una pelle abbastanza decente, mi piace troppo provare cose nuove e raramente uso lo stesso prodotto abbastanza perchè la mia pelle ci sia abitui e di conseguenza qualche brufoletto da stress di tanto in tanto è da mettere in conto. Per queste occasioni ho messo insieme una piccola squadra di pronto intervento per fermare il problema sul nascere.

Ormai utilizzo l'Origins Super spot remover da un bel po'. A suo tempo lo avevo recensito approfonditamente nel caso voleste darci un'occhiata (qui) e nonostante sia passato più di un anno lo uso tutt'ora per stroncare sul nascere quei deliziosi brufoletti che passano a fare un salutino puntuali come un orologio ogni mese. Mi piace usarlo di notte perchè mentre la formula anti-batterica agisce l'imperfezione si arrossa ulteriormente e coprirla con una quantità di correttore normale, che poi non sembri eccessiva man mano che il brufoletto guarisce, può diventare complicato. In più visto che la formula cicatrizzante è molto potente può seccare l'area e mentre passano le ore possono formarsi delle pellicine intorno al brufoletto ed il trucco potrebbe risentirne.

Il prossimo prodotto di cui volevo parlarvi è stato una piccola delusione, ma vale comunque la pena di nominarlo, anche se ho appena scoperto che la sua produzione è stata temporaneamente sospesa per difficoltà a reperire un ingrediente. Sia mai che ritorni disponibile. Il Liz Earl Spot-on è un mix di vitamina E ed oli essenziali di melaleuca, melissa e lavanda dalla profumazione più potente che si possa immaginare, da far lacrimare gli occhi. Sfortunatamente non fa granchè per accelerare il processo di guarigione e l'applicatore roll-on è poco preciso, ma aiuta a diminuire il dolore ed è fantastico sulle punture di zanzara. Evviva i prodotti con un uso alternativo!

Infine il membro più recente della squadra di salvataggio, l'Etat pur Pure activ A22 Salicylic acid 300 (qui). Il packaging è geniale: premendo il fondo l'erogatore a contagocce rilascia la quantità esatta di prodotto necessario per trattare ogni imperfezione, diminuendo gli sprechi e mantenendo il tutto molto igienico. Al contrario del suo equivalente Origins, non brucia e si può utilizzare tranquillamente come prevenzione anche prima che il brufoletto si sviluppi completamente perchè non secca affatto la pelle.

When you have super straight lashes that stubbornly point toward the floor no matter how many times you curl them, the search for the perfect mascara can get extremely frustrating. Obviously once you understand that waterproof is the way things get easier but unfortunately not every WP mascara does the trick: for instance the Estée Lauder Sumptuos waterproof mascara I use on my brides doesn't hold the curl all day on me. 

After years of mascara hoarding I finally managed to find my holy grails and I thought I'd share them with you.

The MUFE Aqua smoky mascara was a total life saver back in the days and literally the first mascara to get me through a whole day with luscious, curly lashes. I like it because is extra black and doesn't clump easily; the brush coats and thickens every lash for a dramatic look, but also defines. The downside is the formula dries very quickly: in about a month the mascara gets drier and drier. The final result doesn't change but the application gets a little trickier. Overall is a lovely mascara but I don't think I'll buy it again, simply because I found something even better. NARS Larger than life is the newest addiction to my collection. The wand is huge and may look a little scary but is super easy to use and the honeycomb bristles grasp every single lash for both volume and beautiful definition. What I like the most about the Larger than life is the natural look: one coat is perfect for everyday but you can also build up for a more dramatic effect. It's a real winner and I wish it came in brown as well for those no-makeup makeup days. Last but not least the blogger sensation, the Bottom lash mascara by Clinique. It took me a little while to go over the whole 'that's a gimmick' first impression and give it a chance, and I'm so glad I did. My bottom lashes are quite long so normal mascaras with basic lengthening and volumizing effects make me look like a crazy person. This guy helps me make my fair lashes visible, without adding any rama. The tiny brush is also very good to apply mascara on those hard-to-reach inner corner lashes without pocking your eyes out; and even if it's smudge proof it removes with ease. It's a life changer, ladies, trust me on this one.

And speaking of lashes: do you know any lash growth serum that actually works? I'm always afraid all these hard to remove products will end up damaging my lashes or stress them out.

Quando si hanno ciglia testarde come le mie, che continuano a puntare dritte verso il pavimento non importa quante volte si adoperi il piegaciglia, la ricerca del mascara perfetto può diventare molto frustrante. Ovviamente una volta capito che la soluzione era il waterproof non mi ci è voluto molto, anche se non tutti i mascara resistenti all'acqua fanno il proprio dovere fino in fondo: per dirne una, il Sumptuos waterproof di Estée Lauder, che uso sulle mie spose, su di me dopo qualche ora perde la piega.

Dopo anni di buchi nell'acqua ho finalmente scovato degli ottimi mascara e ve li presento in questo post.

L'Aqua smokydi MUFE a suo tempo è stato il mio cavaliere in armatura scintillante e di fatto il primo mascara capace di mantenere la curvatura da mattina a sera. Mi piace perchè la formula è extra black e l'applicatore distribuisce il prodotto senza grumi e su tutte le ciglia per un volume piuttosto drammatico ma non senza definizione. Il lato negativo però è che la formula secca molto velocemente: nel giro di un mese il mascara si asciuga moltissimo. L'effetto finale non cambia, però bisogna faticare un po' di più durante l'applicazione. Si tratta comunque di un ottimo mascara, che però non credo acquisterò di nuovo semplicemente perchè ho trovato il mio campione. Il Larger than life di NARS è l'ultimo arrivato nella mia makeup bag. L'applicatore è uno di quelli grandi che possono mettere in soggezione, però è facilissimo da usare e le setole a nido d'ape afferrano ogni singolo ciglio per donare volume ed una fantastica definizione. Quello che mi piace di più di questo mascara è l'effetto naturale: una passata è perfetta per tutti i giorni, ma si può ottenere un effetto più drammatico in poche mosse. Mi piace veramente tantissimo e vorrei che fosse disponibile anche in marrone, per quei giorni da trucco-non-trucco. E, ultimo ma non meno importante, uno dei prodotti che ha fatto più sensazione della comunità beauty, il Bottom lash mascara di Clinique. Mi ci è voluto un po' per superare lo scetticismo iniziale e dare a questo prodotto una possibilità, ma sono contenta di averlo fatto. Le mie ciglia inferiori sono piuttosto lunghe, quindi con un normale mascara allungante/volumizzante finisco col sembrare pazza. Il Bottom lash mi aiuta a rendere visibili le ciglia altrimenti biondissime, senza effetti drammatici. Ha un po' l'effetto di una tinta, che definisce in modo molto naturale. In più l'applicatore così piccino permette di raggiungere anche le ciglia più corte che crescono nell'angolo interno senza il rischio di cavarsi un occhio. E nonostante sia anti-sbavatura viene via facilmente, senza bisogno di strofinare troppo. E' un prodotto che fa la differenza, credetemi.

MAC eyeshadows: an overview and my favorites Part 2

There are no blue eyeshadows simply because I rarely use them, nevertheless Aquadisiac and Fresh waters are really popular. Also I hate silver eyeshadows with all my heart, however Electra gets a lot of love. Dupes for pretty much all the matte browns can be found in the Naked palettes, so if you have those palettes just skip them.
Carbon used to be the blackest black, but I hear the new formula lacks in pigmentation. I bet you’ll be able to find a cheaper alternative if you need a matte black. Another thing to keep in mind is, aside for Cranberry and few exceptions - like Sushi flower -, MAC pinks are not that good in terms of texture and/or pigmentation. I think you can spend your money in better brands in this case.

For the life of me I couldn’t take a decent picture of Vanilla (3.) ‘cause it blends perfectly with my skin color. Anyways, Vanilla and Blanc type (2.) – and Brule as well – look pretty much the same: matte or almost matte highlighting shades, skin-like blending shades – perfect to help the blending process or to tone down shades in case you put to much on - or the perfect all over base for a vintage look. You just have to choose the texture you prefer.
Nylon (1.) is super frosty, too much for an all over wash, but a tiny bit in the inner corner opens the eyes like nothing else. Shroom (4.) gives a soft wash of transparent shimmer that looks lovely on brides or just to brighten a neutral look. Retrospect (5.) is a beautiful cool gold: is a lustre so it gives a frosty, glittery look.

I have a thing for greens: my favorite, Sweet & punchy (6.), was LE with the To the beach collection, but if you’re looking for a bright green I’d recommend Lucky green, finally permanent, or Juxt, if you want something a little lighter. Humid (7.) – forest green – is another must have if you like greens: it’s the perfect complement for an emerald smokey eye or looks gorgeous in the crease with a butter shade on the lid. Sumptuous olive (8.) is a gorgeous olive green with gold shimmer and a lovely soft texture – looks amazing on mature skins or on brown eyes -. If you like greens but you don’t feel so much daring, Greensmoke (9.) is a metallic-ish grey with green shimmer, perfect for a simple smokey eye.

Cranberry (12.) is another very popular shade: is a reddish plum with pink shimmer and a frost finish. It’s extremely pigmented and looks beautiful on green eyes. Trax (13.) belongs to the same color family but it’s definitely less pigmented. I use it to give a pink twist to a flat brown smokey eye or over a base to show the beautiful gold shimmer. Satellite dreams (10.) is my favorite purple: plum with violet and blue pearl shimmer. If you like more cool toned purples you can check Parfait amour. Shale (11.) is more on the mauve-ish side and gives a lovely wash of color with just the right amount of shimmer to make it interesting.

Vex (14.) and Club (15.) are duochrome eyeshadows: when the light hits them they change color. Vex is a light pearl grey with a hint of lavender undertones and frost shimmer that flashes pink or green according to the lighting. I tend to use it as a base for purple smokey eyes but looks beautiful on it own as a wash of color. Club is one of the most famous and copied MAC shades: it’s a reddish brown with green pearl. It’s quite multidimensional, like peacock feathers; sometimes it looks more teal, under other lighting appears more gunmetal, and blends into a warm chocolate brown, so is one of those color that can be used to achieve a complete look with no effort.

Copperplate (16.) is defined as a muted mid-tone grey, but I definitely see a warm undertone here. It’s a matte² so it’s amazing to work with. Print (17.) is a basic grey with a hint of shimmer; it may look boring but it’s one of my favorite shades for dark smokey looks. Smut (18.) is a dark concrete gray, almost black, with reddish shimmer and it’s a good alternative to black for softer looks.

These shades sit together in my brow palette. They’re all matte – well, Mystery and Cork are actually satin, but they look pretty much matte – since you don’t want shimmer in your eyebrows. With a little bit of mixing I can cover pretty much all brow colors. Omega (19.) suits perfectly blond brows. I use Cork (22.) and Charcoal brown (21.) on brunettes respectively with warm and neutral undertones, and Mystery (20.) on darker hair. Obviously I use them as normal eyeshadow as well with great results. With the exception of Cork that has a golden undertone, all these shades have cool taupe-ish undertones.

Samoa silk (23.) is a almost-matte peach shade that I tend to use in the crease to soften warm brown eyeshadows or all over the lid for a bonne mine effect. Amber lights (24.) – peachy-brown with shimmer – looks gorgeous on blue eyes and on tanned skin tones. It has one of the best textures in my opinion. Coppering (25.) is a bright orange copper, while Antiqued (26.) is an ash brown with bronze shimmer. All blended together give the most stunning orange-toned smokey eye look that I look forward to wear this upcoming summer. If you find orange shadow a little hard to wear, try breaking the warmth with a fine line of black eyeliner along the lash line.

Kid (27.) – beige cashmere - is a good blending shade. It’s slightly lighter than the more popular Wedge, but you don’t need them both since the difference is barely noticeable. Naked Lunch (28.) and All that glitters (29.) are two of those ‘my skin but better’ shades: Naked lunch is pinker, while All that glitters has orange undertones. They both give a soft wash of shimmer that opens the eyes and make them appear bigger. Era (30.) is a soft beige with shimmer and I use it in my everyday makeup when I’m in hurry ‘cause it gives a very elegant and subtle definition.

The gold and bronze family is the one I like and use the most: I find they suit a lot of different skin tones and eye colors in an easy-to-wear way. Woodwinked (31.) is a very metallic antique gold that blends into an orange-ish brown - so it’s another of those shadows that can be used alone to achieve a complete look -. It suits perfectly more tanned skins but I use it anyways, sometimes mixed with Patina to tone down the yellow tones. Romp (32.) and Tempting (34.) look very similar on the skin but look differently in the pan: both chocolate browns with golden undertones the first and a hint of copper the second. Bronze (33.) it’s exactly what the name says: the perfect bronze eyeshadow and it’s a frost so is very pigmented and metallic. I mix it with Romp and Club for a gorgeous, almost holographic, smokey eye for the evening.

Last but not least, my favorite shades. Espresso (35.) is a muted golden brown that can be paired with thousand shades and in many ways. Mulch (36.) is my eyeshadow of choice for an effortless brown smokey look: it’s a reddish brown with bronze shimmer. Sable (37.) it’s a golden plum with bronze pearl and looks beautiful in the crease with Naked lunch on the lid. Satin taupe (38.) and Patina (39.) are my favorite shades of the whole lot. Satin taupe is indeed a taupe-y shade with silver shimmer, while Patina it’s a taupe brown with golden pearl. I often mix them together or use them alone for effortless looks. They are the two shades I recommend to every MAC newbie that asks me for a must have that goes with everything.

Of course you don’t have to buy all these shades, but knowing the colors that you use more often you now have a list of the best performing shades MAC has to offer. Also you won’t end up with tons of dupes or similar shades.

Nella mia lista ho cercato di menzionare solo ombretti parte della collezione permanente, e di considerare solo le texture migliori. Non ci sono blu semplicemente perché non li uso quasi mai, ma in ogni caso Aquadisiac e Fresh waters sono molto popolari. Personalmente odio gli ombretti argento con tutto il cuore, ma Electra è tra i più venduti.
Carbon una volta era considerato il più nero dei neri, ma ho sentito che la nuova formulazione manca di pigmentazione. Sono convinta che riuscirete a trovare un nero opaco di una marca molto più economica. Un’altra cosa da tenere a mente è che a parte Cranberry ed un paio di altre eccezioni – Sushi flower, per esempio – i rosa di MAC non sono eccezionali in termini di texture e/o pigmentazione. In questo caso i vostri soldi sarebbero meglio spesi con altre marche.

Non riuscirei a fare una foto decente di Vanilla (3.) neppure se ne andasse della mia vita, visto che corrisponde perfettamente al mio colore di pelle. Comunque, Vanilla e Blanc type (2.) – così come Brule – si distinguono appena: tonalità matte o quasi opache perfette da usare come highlighter dell’artcata sopraccigliare, per facilitare la transizione nella sfumatura, oppure su tutta la palpebra come base per un look vintage. Non resta che scegliere la texture che preferite.
Nylon (1.) è molto metallico - troppo per usarlo su tutta la palpebra - ma una piccola quantità nell’angolo interno dell’occhio, apre ed illumina lo sguardo. Shroom (4.) sulle pelli più chiare appare come una passata di micro shimmer trasparente, che dona tantissimo alle spose oppure è perfetto per un look neutron. Retrospect (5.) è un bellissimo oro freddo: ha un finish lustre, quindi i glitter sono molto evidenti.

Adoro i verdi: il mio preferito, Sweet & punchy (6.), era limited edition con la To the beach collection, ma, se siete in cerca di un verde brillante, raccomando Lucky green - finalmente permanente - o Juxt, che è un po’ più chiaro. Humid (7.) – verde bosco – è un altro must have se vi piacciono i verdi: è il complemento perfetto ad uno smokey nei toni smeraldo oppure è bellissimo sfumato nella piega con un color burro sulla palpebra mobile. Sumptuous olive (8.) è uno stupendo verde olive con un tocco di oro ed una texture morbida e facile da sfumare – è fantastico sulle pelli mature e con gli occhi nocciola -. Se amate il verde ma non volete osare troppo, Greensmoke (9.) è un grigio metallizzato con sfumature verdi, perfetto per uno smokey semplice e veloce.

Cranberry (13.) è un’altro ombretto molto popolare: è un prugna rossiccio con shimmer rosato. E’ estremamente pigmentato e dona tantissimo a chi ha gli occhi verdi. Trax (14.) appartiene alla stessa famiglia ma è decisamente meno pigmentato. Lo utilizzo per aggiungere un pizzico di rosa ad un look piatto oppure con una base per mostrare i bellissimi glitter oro. Satellite dreams (11.) è il mio viola preferito: prugna con iridescenza viola e turchese. Se preferite toni più freddi date un’occhiata a Parfait amour. Shale (12.) tende al malva, con la giusta quantità di shimmer che lo rende interessante ed è delizioso per un look discreto da tutti i giorni.

Vex (14.) e Club (15.) sono duochrome: a seconda della luce possono apparire di un colore oppure di un altro. Vex è un grigio perla chiaro con sottotoni lavanda e micro glitter che sembrano verdi o rosa, a seconda della luce. Di solito lo uso come base per gli smokey viola ma è bellissimo anche da solo, steso su tutta la palpebra. Club è uno degli eyeshadow più famosi ed anche tra i più copiati: è un marrone rossiccio con iridescenza verde. E’ molto multidimensionale, come le piume di pavone; a volte tende all’ottanio, sotto altre luci sembra bronzo, e sfumato appare come un cioccolato dai toni caldi, quindi si può utilizzare per un look complesso ma semplicissimo.

MAC definisce Copperplate (16.) come un grigio tenue, ma io ci vedo decisamente un sottotono caldo. E’ un matte², quindi la texture è meravigliosa. Print (17.) è un tipico grigio con l’aggiunta di micro shimmer; può sembrare un colore noioso, ma è uno dei miei preferiti da usare come transizione nei trucchi più scuri. Smut (18.) è un grigio asfalto scuro, quasi nero, con piccoli glitter tendenti al rosso ed è una buona alternativa al nero per un makeup più soft.

Tengo questi colori in una palette a parte che utilizzo principalmente per le sopracciglia. Sono quasi tutti matte - Mystery e Cork sono satin, ma l’effetto finale è quasi opaco – dato che usare un ombretto con glitter per definire le sopracciglia non è mai una buona idea. Omega (19.) è il più adatto alle sopracciglia bionde o castano chiaro. Utilizzo Cork (22.) e Charcoal brown (21.) rispettivamente sulle castane dai toni caldi e neutri, e Mystery (20.) sulle more. Ovviamente si possono utilizzare come ombretti normali, vista l’ottima texture e pigmentazione. Con l’eccezione di Cork che ha dei sottotoni dorati, sono tutte gradazioni di talpa dai toni freddi.

Samoa silk (23.) è un pesca quasi matte che tendo ad usare il più delle volte per sfumare verso l’arcata sopraccigliare gli ombretti marroni dai toni caldi o su tutta la palpebra per un trucco bonne mine. Amber lights (24.) – pesca metallizzato – dona tantissimo alle ragazze con gli occhi azzurri ed abbronzate. Ha una delle texture migliori in assoluto. Coppering (25.) è un rame aranciato brillante, mentre Antiqued (26.) è un marrone freddo con shimmer color bronzo. Tutt insieme creano un trucco nei toni arancio perfetto per la prossima estate. Se trovate difficile indossare gli ombretti arancioni, provate a spezzare con l’eyeliner nero.

Kid (27.) – cashmere – è uno di quei colori che si possono utilizzare per facilitare la sfumatura. E’ leggermente più chiaro del più famoso Wedge, ma, visto che la differenza si nota appena, non serve averli entrambi. Naked Lunch (28.) ed All that glitters (29.) sono due di quei colori ‘come la mia pelle ma meglio’: Naked lunch è più rosa, All that glitters più aranciato. Applicati su tutta la palpebra aprono l’occhio e lo fanno sembrare più grande. Era (30.) è un beige delicato con iridescenza neutra; è l’ombretto che uso più spesso quando ho poco tempo a disposizione ed ho bisogno di una leggera definizione, comunque molto elegante e discreta.

La famiglia degli ori e bronzi è quella che amo ed utilizzo di più: trovo che donino alle diverse carnagioni ed ai vari colori di iride e siano molto semplici da portare di giorno ed in varie situazioni. Woodwinked (31.) è un oro antico metallizzato che quando sfumato si trasforma in un marrone aranciato – per cui è un altro di quei colori che si possono utilizzare da soli per un trucco completo -. Dona tantissimo alle pelli olivastre ed abbronzate, ma amo indossarlo anche io, nonostante il pallore, magari attenuando il sottotono giallo con un pizzico di Patina. Romp (32.) e Tempting (34.) appaiono molto simili sulla pelle anche se le cialde sembrano diverse: sono entrambi color cioccolato, con sottotono dorato il primo, con un tono ramato il secondo. Bronze (33.) è l’ombretto color bronzo per antonomasia ed essendo un frost è molto metallico e pigmentato. Per un perfetto look da sera mischio Romp, Club e Bronze, ottenendo uno smokey quasi olografico per cui ricevo sempre tantissimi complimenti.

Ultime ma non meno importanti, le mie tonalità preferite. Espresso (35.) è un marrone dorato tenue dal finish matte che si può utilizzare insieme a tantissime tonalità diverse ed ha molteplici usi. Mulch (36.) è l’ombretto che utilizzo più spesso quando ho voglia di uno smokey eye veloce nei toni del marrone: è un marrone rossiccio con shimmer color bronzo. Sable (37.) è un prugna dorato con un finish perlato color bronzo ed è delizioso nella piega con Naked lunch sulla palpebra mobile. Satin taupe (38.) e Patina (39.) sono i miei preferiti in assoluto. Satin taupe è un talpa con pagliuzze argentate, mentre Patina è un talpa chiaro con base marrone ed effetto perlato color oro. Spesso li mischio per un look veloce. Sono i due ombretti che raccomando a chiunque mi chieda un consiglio su un must have di MAC che vada con tutto.

Naturalmente non dovete assolutamente acquistare tutte queste tonalità – ricordo che come lavoro part time per pagarmi le tasse universitarie, faccio la truccatrice freelance e pago per i miei prodotti con i soldi che guadagno – ma sapendo che colori vi piacciono e di quali tonalità avete bisogno, ora avete una lista di quelli che secondo me sono i migliori ombretti di MAC. In più non dovreste rischiare di acquistare per errore colori troppo simili.
