DERMOLAB Scrub esfoliante delicato – gel esfoliante delicato che rimuove le impurità, stimola il ricambio cellulare e riattiva la microcircolazione; a base di acido ialuronico per mantenere l’idratazione.
EUCERIN Hyaluron-filler concentrato – fiala ad azione profonda per un trattamento filler anti-età.
EUCERIN Hyaluron-filler night – trattamento notturno anti-età per una visibile riduzione delle rughe.
KRYOLAN Rossetto classic LC101 – rossetto con vitamina E, dalla coprenza opaca ma dall’effetto glossy. E’ un rosso con base gialla.

La variante di cui sono a conoscenza conteneva 2 smalti LAYLA, 3 prodotti Everline per capelli – shampoo, maschera idratante e fluido lucidante - e un rossetto KRYOLAN rosa o rosso, e potete vederla sul blog What’s in my bag.
La star della box è decisamente il rossetto KRYOLAN: il rosso a base gialla è decisamente il più semplice da indossare, è un colore adatto a tutte le stagioni ed essendo glossy è più giovane e sbarazzino di un rosso matte, e anche meno spaventoso. E’ anche il primo prodotto di questa brand che mi capita tra le mani, quindi sono curiossissima di testarlo.
Per quanto riguarda lo smalto, l’ottanio è uno dei miei colori preferiti, ma non sono particolarmente entusiasta del finish perlato, che trovo un po’ vecchio stile. E devo ammettere che ritrovare LAYLA dopo i 3 prodotti presenti nella box di Dicembre è stato un po’ frustrante; di nuovo, è solo la quarta box, ma la ridondanza di brand è ormai la regola.
Per ora dello scrub posso dire poco: ha uno strano profumo di shampoo, ma sembra effettivamente delicato sulla pelle. E’ un prodotto Deborah e qui storco un po’ la bocca, perché Deborah è una marca low cost da supermercato e non un brand di lusso. Ma i prodotti Eucerin sono stati la delusione più grande: sono prodotti ad azione urto per correggere le rughe e sono troppo giovane per dover ricorrere a prodotti del genere. Una crema per prevenire sarebbe stata più gradita e decisamente più facile da testare.
Degna di nota la presenza di un foglio con l’INCI di tutti i prodotti.
In generale credo che la direzione sia giusta, ma che ci sia ancora del lavoro da fare, soprattutto per quanto riguarda la personalizzazione e la lettura dei profili – la prima domanda del beauty profile riguarda proprio la pelle e dato che ‘pelle matura’ e ‘pelle secca’ sono opzioni diverse e mutualmente escludentesi, non capisco perché mi siano stati recapitati i prodotti Eucerin -.

Hot pink and hearts: this is the Glossybox way to get ready for Valentine’s day. This month leitmotif is getting ready for a love date, with skin care products, hair treatments and makeup to pamper yourselves. In my box I found an amazing yellow-based red lipstick by KRYOLAN that I can’t wait to try, a dark teal nail polish, a gentle face scrub and two anti-wrinkles products.
The lipstick is definitely my favorite product of the box, which is finally starting to look like the international ones. Unfortunately the face products were a miss: I’m too young for that kind of wrinkle shock treatment stuff; I would have appreciated more something like a preventive moisturizer, like I asked in mu beauty profile.
Other boxes contained hair treatments, french manicure nail polish sets and barbie pink lipstick.
There’s still work to do but I feel we’re finally on the right track.

How-To: Rescue dried-out gel liner

Who’s into gel liners knows the delight that comes from opening a new jar and how painful working with a dry product can be. And everyone will eventually experience the dryness, ‘cause every gel liner will sooner dry: for as careful as you can be - screwing the cap on as hard as you can or keeping the jar open only for a few seconds at a time – unless you use the gel everyday and in great quantities, you’ll end up working with a desert-in-a-jar, and with too much product left to just throw it away carelessly.


This is exactly what happened to me: my beloved MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack was impossible to work with but the jar was still half full and getting rid of it was quite out of question. Last week I decided to try and save it and since the mission is accomplished I thought I’d share.


I wish I took pictures of the whole process, but it was a plain experiment: I didn’t really know what I was doing and especially if I was going to succeed. Anyways, I’ll try to be as precise as possible describing the whole thing.
I started with my gel liner, a couple of spatulas, a sample jar, a glass – unfortunately I don’t have a microwave so I had to go a little MacGyver-ish on this, but if you have it skip the sample jar and put the product into a microwave-friendly pot – and the crucial ingredient, my INGLOT Duraline.

INGLOT Duraline is a mixing medium that you use to transform powder products, such as pigments or cakes, into liquid formulations – so that you can make liquid eyeliner out of your favorite powder eyeshadow, for instance -. MAC has a quite big range of mixing mediums for various uses – I use their eyeliner one for glitters - and other brands make them too, but I remembered hearing somewhere that the INGLOT one was perfect to rescue dried out products, so I went for it. It also comes with a dropper so it’s easier to control the product amount (it retails 10€/7£/9$ for 9ml).

First thing I scraped off all the gel liner from the pot and transferred it into the sample jar, and then I put the hermetically sealed jar into a glass full of burning hot water for 2-3 minutes to soften the product. At this point I poured a couple of drops of Duraline into the softened cream and mixed well – I could have probably used just one drop, but, whatever. And that’s it, really.
I put the renewed cream into the original pot and pressed with the spatula to compact everything.
Duraline is smudge proof so it didn’t affect the lasting power of my MAC Fluidline that now is super creamy and soft, like the first time I used it – hopefully you’ll be able to see how dry and matte the gel looks in the first picture and how shiny and smooth is after the cure -.

Chi utilizza eyeliners in gel conosce la gioia di aprire un barattolo nuovo fiammante e quanto possa essere stressante lavorare con un prodotto secco. E tutti ad un certo punto si troveranno a fare i conti con la secchezza, perché tutti i gel liner eventualmente seccheranno: per quanto si possa fare attenzione – stringendo il tappo al limite o tenendo il barattolo aperto solo pochi secondi alla volta – a meno che non lo si utilizzi in grandi quantità e tutti i giorni, ci si ritroverà a lavorare con un deserto in barattolo, e di solito in quantità tali da non rendere accettabile lo smaltimento.
Esattamente quello che è successo a me: il mio beneamato MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack era diventato impossibile da usare, ma il barattolino era ancora mezzo pieno, quindi gettarlo era fuori discussione. Settimana scorsa ho deciso di provare a salvarlo e visto che la missione è compiuta e perfettamente riuscita ho pensato di condividere.
Vorrei aver fotografato l’intero processo per creare un piccolo tutorial fotografico, ma stavo improvvisando e non avevo idea di come sarebbe finita. In ogni caso cercherò di essere il più dettagliata possibile. Ecco come potete recuperare un gel liner secco:

Ho iniziato con il mio gel liner, un paio di spatoline, un barattolino di quelli in cui mettono i sample da Sephora, un bicchiere – sfortunatamente non ho il forno a microonde ed ho dovuto improvvisarmi un po’ MacGyver, ma se lo avete invece di usare il barattolino di plastica e l’acqua trasferite il tutto in un piccolo contenitore che possa andare nel microonde – e poi l’ingrediente essenziale, il Duraline di INGLOT.
Duraline è un mixing medium, una sostanza che può essere usata per trasformare polveri, come pigmenti e cialde, in liquidi – per esempio, potete creare un eyeliner liquido partendo dal vostro ombretto preferito -. MAC ne ha tantissimi, per gli usi più disparati – io uso l’eyeliner mixing medium per fissare i glitter, p.e.– e anche altre marche li producono, ma mi sono ricordata di aver sentito che quello di INGLOT è perfetto per riportare alla vita prodotti ormai secchi, quindi ho scelto questo. Tra l’altro il packaging è molto d’aiuto: è dotato di contagocce, quindi è facilissimo controllare le quantità (costa 10€ per 9ml).

Per prima cosa ho usato una spatola per raschiare il gel e trasferirlo nel barattolino di plastica, che ho poi chiuso ermeticamente ed immerso in un bicchiere pieno d’acqua bollente per 2-3 minuti per ammorbidire il tutto. Dopodichè ho aggiunto un paio di gocce di Duraline al gel ammorbidito e mescolato bene – col senno di poi avrei potuto usare una sola goccia, ma non importa. Tutto qui, sul serio.
Ho ritrasferito il gel nel contenitore di MAC e l’ho appiattito un po’ con la spatolina per eliminare eventuali bolle d’aria.
Duraline è resistente alle sbavature, quindi non ha intaccato la durata del Fluidline che adesso è cremosissimo e morbido, come la prima volta – spero si veda quanto fosse opaco e secco il gel nella prima foto e come sia lucido e soffice adesso -.

The Body Shop Monoi miracle oil review

Never been the oil type - I’m more of a body butter girl -, but I can’t deny all this hype about all-around body oils got my attention, so last time I placed a order on The Body Shop website I threw this in my cart.

Monoi miracle oil was inspired by the Polynesian spa rituals and it can be used as a body moisturizer, massage oil, a bath oil or hair conditioner.

Unfortunately I’m lacking an essential component for the massage use at the moment – hello, prince charming – and I’m not really into baths, but I used it right away as a body moisturizer after the shower, on almost dry skin. It absorbs really fast and leaves my skin soft and smooth, without adding greasiness. The smell has a pampering effect too; it’s just like having a spa in my bathroom.
But my favorite use remains the conditioning one: if you have oily scalp you may want to apply only on the ends, but I massage it directly on my dry scalp, then spread some more from roots to ends. I gather my hair in a bun and leave in for as long as I can, generally a couple of hours at least, then I rinse as usual.
The result is amazing: the ends feel soft and healthy, I said goodbye to my itchy scalp and my hair is ultra shiny.
I also used the tiniest amount on curled hair to tame the frizz and define the curls and my hair looked almost photo-shopped. It's perfect also to soften the cuticles and for irritated skin.

A little goes really a long way so this bottle will probably last me forever.
The oil itself is clear and slightly golden in the bottle but pretty much colorless on the skin. It comes in a thick plastic bottle with screw-on lid and the bottle dispenses just the amount of product without wastage or spillage. The cap looks pretty sturdy but you may want to pour it in a smaller bottle or put it in a separate bag if you travel with it, just to be safe and avoid a makeup-tragedy in case of accident.
The scent is pretty strong but fades away a bit after the application: it smells beautifully to me, like tiarè flowers and jasmine, but you may want to smell it in store, just to be sure is not too strongly scented for you. Contains Community Fair Trade organic virgin coconut oil, sesame seed oil, brazil nut oil and tahitian monoi oil.

It’s permanent, retails for 10£/15€/17$ for 150ml and can be found in stores and online on your local The Body Shop website.

Non sono mai stata il tipo da oli – sono una ragazza da burro per il corpo -, ma tutto questo tam tam sugli oli per il corpo ha catturato la mia attenzione, perciò l’ultima volta che ho piazzato un ordine sul sito The Body shop ho buttato anche questo nel carrello.

Monoi miracle oil si ispira ai rituali spa polinesiani e può essere utilizzato come idratante per il corpo, olio da massaggi, olio da bagno o trattamento per capelli.
Sfortunatamente in questo momento mi manca la materia prima per i massaggi – oh ciao, principe azzurro – e non sono una fan dei bagni, ma l’ho utilizzato immediatamente come idratante dopo la doccia, sulla pelle quasi asciutta. L’assorbimento è velocissimo e lascia la pelle morbida e soffice, senza ungere. Il profumo è un’ulteriore coccola; è proprio come avere una spa nel proprio bagno.
Ma il mio uso preferito rimane quello di olio idratante per capelli: se avete la cute grassa potete limitarvi ad applicarlo solo sulle punte, ma io lo massaggio direttamente sulla mia cute secca, e poi ne spargo un altro po’ dale radici alle punte. Raccolgo i capelli in uno chignon e lascio in posa il più a lungo possibile, di solito almeno un paio d’ore, e poi procedo con il lavaggio con i soliti prodotti.
Il risultato è strepitoso: le punte sono morbide e più sane, ho detto addio al prurito ed alla cute secca e i capelli sono lucidissimi.
Ne ho anche usato una microscopica quantità sui capelli arricciati con la piastra per tenere a bada l’effetto crespo e definire i ricci e l’effetto photoshop è garantito. E' ottimo anche per le cuticole e per la pelle irritata.

Poche gocce bastano e avanzano, quindi prevedo che questa bottiglia durerà un’eternità.
L’olio in sè è trasparente e leggermente dorato in bottiglia, ma sulla pelle risulta senza colore. E’ contenuto in una bottiglia di plastica abbastanza spessa con tappo a vite e foro dispenser che distribuisce la giusta quantità di prodotto, senza sprechi o fuoriuscite. Il tappo sembra piuttosto saldo, ma, visto che si tratta di un olio, magari potreste travasarlo in una bottiglia più piccola o metterlo in una busta separata in viaggio, giusto per essere sicuri ed evitare un makeup-disastro in caso di imprevisti.
La profumazione è abbastanza forte ma si attenua lievemente dopo l’applicazione: ha un profumo delizioso, di tiarè e gelsomino, ma consiglio di provarlo in negozio per assicurarsi che non sia troppo profumato per i vostri gusti. Tra gli ingredienti olio di cocco vergine biologico ed olio di sesamo del Commercio Equo, olio di mandorla ed olio di monoi.

Tag: If all my makeup disappeared…

…which 10 items would I choose to replace first?
Yesterday I was watching some random videos on YouTube – oh, the things I do instead of studying – and I found this – new, I think, since it’s the first time I see it - tag on Amarixe’s channel.
Let’s make things clear and admit right from the start that in real life there’d be no question of it: I’d probably die of a stroke if such a calamity may actually happen, but it’s for fun, right? Also, since the tag says makeup and not tools or beauty products, I take it as all my makeup brushes, lash curlers and skin care items survived the disaster, otherwise enough is enough and I’d rather jump in front of a running bus.
And that said, these are the products I’d buy straightaway:

NARS sheer glow foundation
Obviously. Favorite foundation of all time, goes with every thing and in every situation; makeup-wise, it’s my little black dress.

MAC studio finish concealer
Again, my favorite concealer for both eyes and blemishes. It’s creamy enough for my dry skin but doesn’t crease or move, even without setting powder.

NARS Deep throat blushIt’s gorgeous, goes with every look, it’s not too pink or too orange and looks quite natural on me. It’s the blush I reach for the most and it comes with me every time I travel.

Jemma Kidd all over radiance
One of the best finds of 2011 and couldn’t let go of it since then. It can also double as a cream eyeshadow, so bargain!

Laura Mercier Invisible loose setting powder
At first I thought about picking a contouring powder, since I use it every day – Rumour by Illamasqua -, but then I figured I could use one of the cool toned matte eyeshadows from the Sleek palette for that and I choose my current favorite setting powder, for foundation and concealer.

Urban Decay primer potionBest eyeshadow primer, hands down and, between you and me, can also be used on face and lips to improve the lasting power of lipstick and foundation.

MAC Fling eyebrow pencil
The last time I ran out of it and couldn’t find it in any MAC counter, I went through a little brow-drama, so I’m holding on tight on this pencil.

MUFE Aqua smoky lash mascara
My lashes point straight toward the floor; I tried many but this is the only mascara that has been able to hold the curl so far.

Estee Lauder Crystal baby lipstick
If I had to choose only one lipstick from my collection it would be this one. It was hard as hell to pick, but this is the most natural, has an amazing texture and goes with everything.

Sleek Au naturel palette
Before you even start, an eyeshadow palette is a single product, so I’m not strictly cheating. This is the closest thing to my custom MAC palette with natural shades and I can make do with only naturals. For a little while.

…quali 10 prodotti rimpiazzerei per primi?

Ieri stavo guardando video su YT a caso – le cose che faccio invece di studiare – ed ho trovato questa – nuova, credo, visto che è la prima volta che la vedo – tag sul canale di Amarixe.
Siamo onesti fin da subito e chiariamo che nella vita vera il problema non si porrebbe nemmeno: probabilmente mi verrebbe un colpo se una catastrofe del genere dovesse realmente accadere, ma è tanto per giocare, ok? Inoltre, dato che la tag dice makeup e non prodotti beauty o strumenti, parto dal presupposto che i miei pennelli, piegaciglia e prodotti skin care siano sopravvissuti al disastro, altrimenti al diavolo, preferirei saltare davanti ad un autobus in corsa piuttosto che scegliere solo 10 prodotti in generale.
Detto questo, ecco i prodotti che ricomprerei per primi:

NARS sheer glow foundation
Nessuna sorpresa. Il mio fondotinta preferito di sempre, adatto ad ogni occasione e look; è il tubino nero del mio beauty case.

MAC studio finish concealer
Di nuovo, il mio correttore preferito per occhiaie e imperfezioni. E’ abbastanza cremoso da non seccare, ma resta immobile anche senza polvere fissante.

NARS Deep throat blush
E’ stupendo, si abbina ad ogni look, non è troppo rosa o troppo arancio e su di me sembra molto natural. E’ il blush che uso di più e che porto con me ogni volta che viaggio.

Jemma Kidd all over radianceUno delle migliori scoperte del 2011 e tra i miei preferiti da allora. Può essere utilizzato anche come ombretto in crema, quindi doppio uso.

Urban Decay primer potion
Senza dubbio il miglior primer per ombretto, e, detto tra noi, può essere usato anche sulla zona T e sulle labbra per migliorare la durata di rossetto e fondotinta.

MAC Fling eyebrow pencil
L’ultima volta che sono rimasta senza, con tutti i counter a secco per due settimane, è stato un piccolo dramma, quindi me la tengo stretta.

MUFE Aqua smoky lash mascaraLe mie ciglia puntano dritte al pavimento; ho provato decine di mascara, ma questo è l’unico che si è dimostrato in grado di mantenere la piega per tutto il giorno. E’ il mio Santo Graal.

Estee Lauder Crystal baby lipstick
Se dovessi scegliere un solo rossetto nella mia collezione sarebbe questo. E’ stata una dura scelta, ma è il più naturale, ha una texture fantastica e va con tutto.

Sleek Au naturel palette
Prima che iniziate, una palette di ombretti è tecnicamente un singolo prodotto, per cui non sto strettamente imbrogliando. Questa palette è la cosa più simile a quella di ombretti MAC che ho creato e posso vivere di soli eyeshadows naturali. Per un po’.

Laura Mercier Invisible loose setting powderAll’inizio avevo pensato ad una polvere per il contouring, dato che la uso tutti i giorni – Rumour di Illamasqua -, ma poi ho pensato che in caso di emergenza potrei utilizzare uno degli ombretti mat a base fredda della palette Sleek ed ho scelto la mia polvere fissante preferita al momento, per fissare correttore e fondotinta.

Ecco. Consideratevi tutte taggate, voglio sapere quali sono i prodotti che correreste a ricomprare.

Laura Mercier mini haul & new counter

Last Thursday I was wandering in and out of the shops downtown looking for some good sales and as usual I visited the most luxurious mall in Milan, La Rinascente, just to take a look to the MAC counter and then droll a little on Louis Vuitton and co. I took one last look to Shu Uemura and right when I was ready to leave I saw this wonder.

Yes. Now there’s a real, serious Laura Mercier counter. We had a small one already, in a remote pharmacy with low stocks and little choice, but now we have the real thing. I almost shrieked in excitement and the MUA must have thought I was a little mental, ‘cause I was practically bouncing the whole time I talked to her. She was kind enough to let me take a picture and then, since I was the only client at the moment, she took some time describing the new releases. Such a refreshing chat: it’s so hard to find sale assistants that actually know what they’re talking about – most MAC counters excepted. I left with a couple of products I’ve had my eyes on for the longest time and some foundation samples that I can’t wait to try.

I bought the Secret finish mattifying cream for my kit, a cream product that you put above foundation to set everything and prevent oiliness and patchiness; a Metallic cream eye color in Gold, that like a MAC paint can be used on it’s own or as a crease-free base to make eyeshadows pop; a Lip glacè in Bellini (first of the 5 glosses I allow myself to buy this year) which is the most gorgeous pinky coral gloss for spring. Reviews coming soon.

I’m already planning my next visit, so I’m open to any recommendation on the brand.

Lo scorso giovedì girovagavo in Duomo per negozi in cerca di qualche saldo decente, e come da copione, sono entrata alLa Rinascente a rifarmi gli occhi, dare un’occhiata al MAC counter e sbavare un pochino su Louis Vuitton e co. Dopo un’ultima occhiata a Shu Uemura, quando ormai ero pronta ad andare, mi è caduto l’occhio su questa meraviglia.

Eh già. Ora abbiamo un vero counter di Laura Mercier degno di questo nome. Ad essere onesti ce n’era già uno a Conciliazione M1, presso la Farmacia Legnani, ma avevano pochi pezzi e poca scelta, ma adesso, da un mese e mezzo circa, ne abbiamo uno come si deve. Ho quasi lanciato un urlo di felicità e la makeup artist deve aver pensato che fossi un po’ fuori, visto che ho praticamente saltellato per tutto il tempo. Visto che ero l’unica cliente al momento è stata così gentile da lasciarmi fare una foto e poi mi ha illustrato con cura tutte le novità. E’ stata una conversazione così stimolante: è così raro trovare qualcuno che sappia realmente di cosa sta parlando e non cerca solo di venderti il più possibile – quasi tutti i MAC artist sono esclusi ovviamente. Me ne sono andata con un paio di prodotti su cui avevo messo gli occhi da tempo e qualche generoso sample di fondotinta che non vedo l’ora di provare.

Ho comprato la Secret finish mattifying cream per il mio kit, un gel di rifinitura da applicare sopra al fondotinta per aumentarne la durata, mantenere il tutto opaco ed impedire agli oli di salire in superficie; un Metallic cream eye color in Gold, che, come i paint di MAC, può essere utilizzato da solo come ombretto in crema, ma anche come base per far risaltare gli ombretti e garantirne la lunga durata; e un Lip glacè nel colore Bellini (il primo dei 5 gloss che potrò acquistare quest’anno) che è il più delizioso gloss corallo con base rosata che si sia mai visto. Da quel che ne so, sono già aperti o è prevista l’apertura di altri due corner a Roma e Palermo sempre presso La Rinascente.

Sto già pianificando la prossima visita quindi si accettano suggerimenti e raccomandazioni.

Liz Earle Sheer skin tint spf15 review

During the last year Liz Earle products, such as the Cleans & polish hot cloth cleanser, have been the talk of the town in the beauty community and many pieces made it through my wish list.
A couple of days before Christmas I stumbled on the website and I decided to treat myself with a whole lot of new skin care products. Everything arrived in a handful of days, nicely packaged and with a lot of freebies – just the kind of customer care that makes your day -, and among them, the Sheer skin tint sample kit.

The idea is brilliant: you get a sample of all the 3 shades - #01 Bare for fair skin tones, #02 Beige for medium skin tones (the average Caucasian) and #03 Beach for medium to dark skin tones – so you can color match yourself at home, in nice, natural lighting, and choose the right shade, whilst trying the product – and it also spares overseas clients like me, with no counter in sight to actually swatch the tint, the usual guessing process to blindly pick the right shade -.

Usually with such a tiny shade selection I don’t even dare to hope to find my shade, but #01 is actually a perfect match – for reference, MAC NC10 -, just with a little more pink undertones that I typically like in my foundations. The shade selection, anyways, is soon to be widened.

Sheer skin tint is sheer indeed. It’s definitely a tinted moisturizer, not a real foundation. The consistency is quite unusual: it’s pretty thick, and drags a little on the skin, that’s why at first I thought to put it on with clean fingers, as recommended by Liz Earle.
If you follow the instructions, you’ll find that the coverage is nearly nonexistent: it evens out the skin tone in a very natural, realistic way, but doesn’t cover any imperfection, so concealer is mandatory. I’m not crazy about this result; I like medium coverage, even with tinted moisturizers – my TM of choice is the Laura Mercier one -, since I tend to use them during summer or when I’m in a hurry, and I can’t waist time with a lot of spot concealing.
But if you apply it with a brush that allows both stippling and buffing motions – the best one, I find, is the Sigma F80 flat kabuki brush-, you’ll be able to build the coverage till medium and that’s how I like my tinted moisturizers.

SST delivers a dewy, satiny finish that looks like real, glowing skin: with fingertips application it’d be perfect for mature ladies in need of a radiance boost or young skins that only need to cover a little unevenness - even for beach makeup if you’re into it; used with a brush it gives the perfect natural coverage for daily makeup without looking too made up.
It lasts pretty well on my dry, un-powdered skin – 8 hours without fading or oil breaking through - but combination skins will definitely need a layer of setting powder and, even if it claims to be suitable for all skin types, I don’t think it would work for very oily ones.
Seems pretty photo-friendly to me: I did some tests with my camera and the mineral spf15 doesn’t backfire when flash is involved.

Only downside, I’m not really fond of the smell: I can’t put my finger on it, but it doesn’t smell good to me; it’s not the usual clay scent that you can find in some fragrance-free foundations, but I have a fine smell and it bothers me a little.
The ingredients list includes vitamin E, borage and avocado, and it feels more like a skin treatment than just a tint. I can see myself using it in the warmer season or simply to detox may my skin require a little pick-me up.

Comes in a tube, that allows perfect control on the amount of product you want to use, it retails for 21£ for 40ml – 10ml more than usual – and can be found on counters and online at LizEarle.co.uk.

Per tutto l’anno scorso i prodotti Liz Earle, primo fra tutti il detergente Cleans & polish hot cloth, sono stati sulla bocca di tutti nella comunità beauty internazionale e diversi pezzi si sono fatti strada nella mia wishlist.
Un paio di giorni prima di Natale mi sono imbattuta nel sito ed ho deciso di regalarmi un bel po’ di prodotti skin care per il nuovo anno. Il pacco è arrivato in una manciata di giorni, tutto impacchetato con cura e con un bel po’ di campioncini – esattamente il tipo di cura del cliente che mette di buon umore -, e tra di essi il sample kit del famoso Sheer skin tint.
L’idea è geniale: si riceve un sample di tutte e 3 le tonalità disponibili - #01 Bare per le pelli chiare, #02 Beige per il colorito medio più comune tra i caucasici e #03 Beach per le pelli da medie a scure – dando così la possibilità a ciascuna di cercare il colore più adatto a casa, con luce naturale e provare il prodotto allo stesso tempo – oltre ad evitare a noi clienti continentali, senza counters per provare direttamente il prodotto, il solito processo di scelta alla cieca della propria tonalità -.

Di norma, quando la scelta dei colori è così limitata, non oso nemmeno sperare di trovare la mia tonalità, ma #01 è incredibilmente un match quasi perfetto – MAC NC10 per riferimento -, giusto lievemente più rosa di quanto avrei voluto. La gamma di tonalità, comunque, è attualmente in espansione.

Sheer skin tint è leggerissimo. Si tratta decisamente di una crema colorata, non di un fondotinta. La consistenza è insolita per questo tipo di base: è piuttosto densa e fa resistenza durante l’applicazione – nel senso che non scivola bene come un idratante – ed è per questo che ho pensato di seguire la raccomandazione di Liz Earle ed applicarlo dirattamente con le dita.
Seguendo le istruzioni, si ottiene una copertura praticamente insesistente: il colorito è uniformato in modo molto naturale e credibile, ma le imperfezioni sono ancora tutte visibili, quindi il correttore è necessario. Non sono entusiasta del risultato; in generale amo una copertura media, anche con le creme colorate – la mia preferita è quella di Laura Mercier -, visto che tendo ad usarle più frequentemente in estate o quando ho solo 5 minuti per prepararmi, di conseguenza non ho veramente il tempo per correggere ogni singola imperfezione.
Ma se applicato con un pennello che permette sia di picchiettare sia di sfumare il prodotto – credo che il migliore sia il kabuki a punta piatta F80 della Sigma -, diventa possibile ottenere una copertura media ed è così che mi piacciono le creme colorate.
Il finish di SST è luminoso e satinato, sembra pelle particolarmente radiosa: applicato con le dita è perfetto per pelli mature che hanno bisogno di una sferzata di luminosità o per incarnati giovani che devono solo uniformare il colorito – persino per la spiaggia, se amate truccarvi anche quando prendete il sole; usato con un pennello crea un finish naturale e facile, perfetto per tutti i giorni.
Dura abbastanza a lungo sulla mia pelle secca e senza polvere fissante – 8 ore senza muoversi – ma le pelli miste richiederanno uno strato di cipria e, anche se promette di essere adatto a tutti i tipi di pelle, non credo sia adatto alle pelli molto grasse.
Sembra anche adatto al trucco fotografico: ho fatto un paio di test con la mia fotocamera e l’spf15 minerale non riflette il flash in maniera eccessiva.

L’unico lato negativo è la profumazione: non riesco a capire esattamente di cosa profumi, ma non mi fa impazzire; non è il solito odore di argilla che si ritrova nelle basi seza profumazione, è decisamente più vegetale, ma ho il naso fino e un po’ mi disturba.
La lista degli ingredienti comprende vitamina E, borragine e avocado, e sembra più un trattamento per la pelle che una semplice crema colorata. Mi vedo ad usarlo nella stagione più calda o semplicemente quando la pelle avrà bisogno di una piccola disintossicazione.

SteamCream review

Since the first time I shopped on Asos I was intrigued by these cute tins, but I wasn’t familiar with the brand and never went further and actually bought one, until I read a blog post by Lisa Eldridge and I decided to give it a try.

I took a moment to browse the website, to learn more about the steam process and it’s quite genius, in a why I didn’t think about that way. In short, a moisturizer is made of oil-based and water-based ingredients that chemically don’t get along together very well. Other manufacturers use additives to tie them and create a firm and solid emulsion, but the problem is that the ingredients stay emulsified on your skin too, sitting on it. Instead, Steamcream uses steam to create a bond that stays put in the jar, but breaks on the skin so that all the ingredients get completely absorbed.

It’s a simple but powerful moisturizer that can be used on face, body and hands. It might be a little too heavy on the face if you have combination to oily skin, being quite rich, but it’s a real multitasker: I use it on random dry spots, hands, neck and lips too. Delivers quick results without feeling greasy; the skin feels more elastic and deeply hydrated.

The all-natural ingredients list includes oatmeal infusion to soothe, orange flower water to improve elasticity, almond oil to condition, lavender oil to calm redness and heal, cocoa butter to soften and organic jojoba oil to create an easily-absorbed cream.
It has a soft, soothing lavender scent with other essential oils in the background, lovely for bed time.
Being a sucker for vintage packaging, I simply adore the aluminum tin and I love the fact that it comes in a huge variety of patterns, with limited edition designs made in Japan: not only you can choose the image that suits you better, but the tin itself becomes a collectable piece once you’re done with the product – take a look at the design gallery here. How gorgeous are they? -. I picked Suraga, a charming white and blue pattern that reminds me of vintage china.
It’s the perfect size to keep in handbags and gym sacs, looks pretty just sitting on your dressing table and is hand-luggage friendly (75g).
Steamcream is completely vegan and the aluminum packaging is fully recyclable and re-usable.

Fin dalla prima volta in cui ho fatto acquisti su Asos sono stata attratta da questi graziosi barattolini, ma non conoscevo il marchio e non sono mai andata oltre il semplice curiosare, non acquistandone nessuno, fino al momento in cui mi sono imbattuta nel blog post di Lisa Eldridge ed ho deciso di fare un tentativo.

Mi sono presa un momento dare un’occhiata al sito, per informarmi sul processo basato sul vapore ed è davvero geniale, sul genere ma perché non ci ho pensato io. In breve, le creme idratanti sono composte di ingredienti oleosi e a base d’acqua, che chimicamente non vanno esattamente d’accordo. Gli altri produttori utilizzano degli additivi per creare un’emulsione solida e duratura, ma il problema è che il legame resiste anche al momento dell’applicazione ed i prodotti non vengono assorbiti completamente dalla pelle, restando in superficie. Invece Steamcream utilizza il vapore per creare un legame che si mantiene nel barattolo, ma si dissolve al contatto con la pelle, così che tutti i componenti possano essere assorbiti appieno.

Si tratta di un idratante molto semplice ma potente, che può essere utilizzato su viso, corpo e mani. Potrebbe rivelarsi un po’ troppo pesante per l’uso come crema viso sulle pelli grasse e miste, ma è un vero tuttofare: lo uso sulle aree più secche, sulle mani, sul collo e persino sulle labbra. Idrata velocemente senza ungere; la pelle è più elstica al tatto ed idratata in profondità.

La lista di ingredienti completamente naturali comprende infuso di avena per lenire, acqua di fiori d’arancio per migliorare l’elasticità, olio di mandorla per idratare, olio di lavanda per calmare il rossore, burro di cacao per ammorbidire e olio di jojoba per facilitare l’assorbenza del prodotto.
Ha un leggero e calmante aroma di lavanda, con altri oli essenziali sullo sfondo, una meraviglia per concigliare il sonno.
Avendo un debole per il packaging d’ispirazione vintage, adoro il barattolo di alluminio ed apprezzo la varietà di design e fantasie, tutte limited edition e create in Giappone: non solo ciascuno può scegliere la fantasia che meglio lo rappresenta, ma il barattolo, una volta terminato il prodotto, diventa un pezzo da collezione – date un’occhiata alla gallery di tutti i design qui. Quanto sono belli? -. Io ho scelto Suraga, un’incantevole fantasia blu e bianca che mi ricorda le porcellane decorate.
E’ delle dimensioni giuste per stare in borsetta o nella borsa della palestra, è deliziosa messa in mostra sul comodino o sulla specchiera e rientra nella lista dei prodotti da bagaglio a mano (75g).
Steamcream è completamente vegana e la confezione di alluminio è riciclabile e riutilizzabile come contenitore.
Giusto ieri l’ho vista in vendita alLa Rinascente di Milano al costo di 20€, ma consiglio vivamente di acquistarla su Asos.com per 14€ (con spese di spedizione tramite corriere gratuite, e tra l’altro arriva con la scatola) o sul sito Steamcream.co.uk.

December favorites

December was a very busy month, with the Christmas gift quest and all the makeup trials for the NYE look, consequently I wasn’t very consistent with makeup products, aside for these 5 here.

Chanel Pro Lumiere+Lift Lumiere foundations

A new lucky combination. I didn’t think it was possible, but this winter I grew even paler than usual and even shade #10 looked a little too dark on me, so I started mixing it with my Lift Lumiere in shade #05, definitely too fair for me but perfect to keep in the kit for mixing. The result is a slightly lighter coverage and a little lift – thanks to the luminosity - that is always welcomed in winter.

The Body shop Spice Vanilla hand cream

My favorite of the Christmas scents - full review here -. I’m usually quite lazy when it comes to hand creams and lip balms, I just put them on when I remember, stage where is too late to prevent and everything is cracking and bleeding. Last month though I started keeping the hand cream on the table near my laptop and I ended up using it every time I refilled my drink.
I only wish I stocked up more than a couple of tubes, ‘cause now it’s sold out on the website.

INGLOT greys/purples palette

The search for the perfect NYE look made me play a lot with my neglected Inglot palettes and I fell in love all over again: amazing pigmentation and lovely texture, and also cheap enough to allow me to build quite a collection in short time. Around the 27^th I was booked for a last minute makeover and, since the request was a grey smoky eye for NYE, I ended up playing with this palette a lot during my trials. I’m more of a warm-tones girl but these shades are brilliant – the client was drooled all over them during the whole thing too -.

Parlèz-moi d’amour by John Galliano

Even in winter I prefer light fragrances, like Miss Dior Chèrie or Chanel Chance. This one is my latest purchase, and it’s probably the heavier, more wintery of the light scents I own, if that makes any sense. I’m the worse at describing scents, so I won’t even go there, but to me smells like the perfect balance of sweet, flowers and fruits. Totally recommended if you like fresh, elegant fragrances.

Dicembre è stato un mese piuttosto pieno, con la ricerca dei regali e gli esperimenti per il look di Capodanno, di conseguenza non sono stata costante nella scelta dei prodotti, ma questi 5 sono stati senza dubbio i più ricorrenti.

Chanel Pro Lumiere+Lift Lumiere foundations

Un’altra combinazione fortunata. Non credevo fosse possibile, ma quest’inverno sono addirittura più pallida del solito e persino la tonalità #10 sembra troppo scura, perciò ho cominciato a mischiarla con la #05 del Lift Lumiere, decisamente troppo chiara per me, ma che tengo nel kit per modificare le tonalità. Il risultato è una coprenza lievemente alleggerita e un ulteriore effetto push up, grazie alla luminosità addizionale del Lift Lumiere, che in inverno fa sempre bene.

La mia profumazione preferita dell’edizione natalizia - recensione qui -. Di solito sono piuttosto pigra per quanto concerne creme mani e burro cacao, mi ricordo di metterli solo quando ormai è troppo tardi per prevenire e il danno è fatto. Il mese scorso ho cominciato a portarmi dietro questa crema ovunque e a tenerla vicino al computer, ricordandomi di applicarla ogni volta che riempivo il bicchiere d’acqua - che mi tengo vicino per lo stesso motivo -. Vorrei solo averne fatto scorta prima che andasse esaurito sul sito.

La ricerca per il look perfetto per il Veglione mi ha portata a giocare con le mie palette Inglot, che non hanno ricevuto abbastanza amore di recente, e ad innamorarmi di nuovo: pigmentazione strepitosa e texture fantastica, e abbastanza economici da permettermi di collezionarne un bel po’ in poco tempo. Intorno al 27 una cliente mi ha prenotata all’ultimo minuto per un makeover, e visto che la richiesta era uno smoky eye sui toni del grigio per Capodanno, ho sperimentato parecchio con questi colori. Sono più una ragazza da toni caldi, ma questi tonalità sono strabilianti – persino la mia cliente era impressionata.

Parlèz-moi d’amour by John Galliano

Anche in inverno preferisco profumi leggeri, come Miss Dior Chèrie o Chanel Chance. Questo è il mio acquisto più recente ed è probabilmente la fragranza più invernale tra le non-propriamente-invernali che posseggo, se ha senso. Sono pessima a descrivere i profumi, quindi non ci proverò neppure, ma mi sembra il perfetto equilibrio tra dolce, fruttato e floreale. Raccomandato se vi piacciono i profumi freschi ma eleganti.

Il 2011 è stato un grande anno per le scoperte beauty: finalmente dopo anni di embargo cosmetico alcune marche sono approdate in Italia e, grazie a qualche dritta da parte della beauty community, sono riuscita a mettere le mani su alcuni dei brand che ancora ci snobbano. Questi sono i prodotti che ho trovato e non ho più lasciato.
E nel caso foste curiose, quasi tutti i miei preferiti del 2010 tengono duro e potete dare un’occhiata qui, nel mio album Flickr.

Un post di sole foto mi è sembrata la scelta migliore, non volendo scrivere un post lungo un miglio, ma nel caso voleste una recensione in particolare o qualche informazione in più, lasciatemi un commento e sarete accontentate.
