This week I felt a strong need to switch my routine and adjust it to the season. I dived deep into my drawers and pulled out a few key products that will make me feel autumn-ready in no time.

As the weather gets colder I like to switch foundations and upgrade to higher coverage compared to the tinted moisturizers and light textures I reach for during the summer months. I still enjoy dewy and glowy finishes but lately I've been going down a different road entirely, simply because I'm having a hard time finding a foundation that matches my skin tone at the moment. MAC Matchmaster foundation (£27) in 1.0 is pretty much the perfect match for me but still requires a lot of skin prep to look good on my dry skin due to the oil free formula and the virtually matte finish. The medium coverage is perfect for this time of the year tho, when a bit of redness start creeping through my skin, and the formula is really long lasting, so I don't mind the layers of Laura Mercier Radiance Primer and MAC Fix+ I have to apply to make it suitable for me too much. I'm already looking for something more appropriate for my skin type of course but for now I'm making do.

You know how easily obsessed I am with beauty products and as of late it's been all about concealers. My most recent addiction is the Origins Plantscription Anti-aging Concealer (£17), which has quickly become one of my everyday staples. The uber moisturizing formula is crease proof and long lasting so there's no need to set it with powder and the instant wide-awake effect is simply brilliant. I love me some treatment makeup and this concealer is like a 10 hour beauty nap in a tube.

Onto the eye stuff, only a few days ago I got my hands on the Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint For Eyes (£17)* in 09 Lavish Lilac and I've been using it loads ever since. I don't stray from my signature gold and bronze hues too easily but there's something about this mellow metallic plum that really stole my heart. It's so easy to apply and blend at the edges for a quick smokey look and lasts all day without budging. Now I see why everyone can't stop talking about these cream shadows. For a powder option I put together this duo with one of my favourite MAC Eyeshadows (£10), Patina, and one of the most neglected shades in my collection, Trax - a green-ish taupe shot through with pale gold sheen and pink-ish plum with shimmer respectively -. I love how these two shades blend into one another in a sultry yet sophisticated mix. I wear Patina all over the lid and then blend Trax in the crease and outer v, with a mix of both shades on the lower lash line for the perfect grungy smokey look.

The berry theme continues with NARS Sin Blush (£21.50), a frosted plum with gold shimmer running through it. I absolutely adore this shade and I always get back to it, cause it complements my complexion so well. It works nicely across many skin tones and gives a beautiful lit-from-within, healthy glow. It seems people tend to ignore it in favor of other more famous shades, probably because it looks a bit dark in the pan, but it's a real stunner and a great cheek color for fall and winter. Very similar to another popular NARS shade - Dolce Vita - is the Bourjois Cream Blush in 04 Sweet Cherry (£7.99), perfect for a gorgeous I-took-a-walk-in-the-snow kind of flush. I promise I'll stop talking about these blushes at some point but right now I can't put them down. Sweet Cherry is a red pink with an opaque finish, so easy to pat on the cheeks and go.

Lastly, even if my go-to shades for the cooler months are dark reds and deep berries, sometimes I still feel the need for something more subtle, especially if I'm wearing a smokey eye. MAC Lipstick in Syrup (£15) is a darker version of my lip shade, a medium pink with just a hint of plum. I picked it on a whim, after the worst of days, but it turns out my frustration has good taste for lip products after all. Like other Lustre lipsticks, it's glossy and moisturizing - such a relief for my dry lips - but lasts quite a long time on me and the color pay-off is nice and buildable.

Questa settimana ho sentito il bisogno di cambiare la mia routine ed adattarla meglio alla stagione in corso. Mi sono tuffata nei miei cassetti e ne sono riemersa con alcuni prodotti chiave che hanno portato l'autunno nella mia trousse.

Quando le temperature cominciano a calare mi piace cambiare fondotinta e spostarmi verso coprenze più alte, rispetto alle creme colorate e consistenze ultra leggere che preferisco in estate. La scelta cade sempre su prodotti luminosi, ma ultimamente mi sono mossa nella direzione opposta, più che altro perchè sto facendo fatica a trovare un fondotinta che si adatti perfettamente al mio colorito attuale. MAC Matchmaster foundation (€35.79) in 1.0 è l'unico che risponda ai requisiti per il momento ma richiede un bel po' di lavoro per avere un aspetto decente sulla mia pelle secca, a causa della formula oil free ed il finish praticamente opaco. La coprenza media è ottima per questa periodo in cui cominciano a trasparire i primi rossori , e la durata è incredibile, per cui gli strati di Primer Radiance di Laura Mercier e di MAC Fix+ che devo applicare non mi disturbano più di tanto. Sono comunque alla ricerca di qualcosa di più appropriato al mio tipo di pelle ma per il momento mi arrangio.

Sapete quanto facilmente mi ossessioni ad un prodotto ed al momento vado matta per i correttori. Il mio acquisto più recente è l'Origins Plantscription Anti-aging Concealer (€20), che è diventato dopo pochi utilizzi un punto fisso della mia routine quotidiana. La formula extra idratante è a prova di rughette e segni d'espressione e a lunga durata, per cui non servono polveri per fissarla, e l'azione illuminante è una meraviglia.
Adoro il makeup/trattamento e questo correttore è come 10 ore di sonno di bellezza in tubetto. 

 

Per quanto riguarda il trucco occhi, ho messo le mani sul Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint For Eyes (€17.50)* in 09 Lavish Lilac solo qualche giorno fa, ma da quel momento l'ho indossato in continuazione. Non capita spesso che mi allontani dal mio tipico trucco oro e bronzo, ma c'è qualcosa in questo viola chiaro metallizzato che mi ha davvero rubato il cuore. E' così facile da applicare e sfumare lungo i bordi per uno smokey velocissimo e non si muove di un millimetro per tutto il giorno. Ora capisco perchè non si parla d'altro nella beauty community.
Per un'opzione in polvere, invece, ho messo insieme questo duo con uno dei miei MAC Eyeshadows (€13.61) preferiti, Patina, ed uno degli ombretti che, con mio gran rammarico, ho trascurato di più ultimamente, Trax - rispettivamente un talpa verdognolo con iridescenza dorata ed un prugna rosato con glitter color oro -. Amo come questi due colori apparentemente così diversi si mescolino a meraviglia in un mix morbido e sofisticato. Indosso Patina sulla palpebra mobile e Trax nella piega e nella v esterna, con un mix dei due sfumato lungo la palpebra inferiore per un look un po' grungy.

Il tema cromatico continua con NARS Sin Blush (€26.25), un prugna iridescente pieno di piccoli glitter dorati. Adoro sul serio questa tonalità e torno sempre ad utilizzarla, perchè si adatta perfettamente alla mia carnagione. Si accompagna bene anche a diversi altri incarnati e dona una favolosa luminosità che sembra scaturire dalla pelle stessa. Vedo che molti ignorano Sin in favore di blush più brillanti, che tendono a catturare l'attenzione più facilmente - in effetti sembra un po' triste nella cialda - ma toglie il fiato ed è perfetto per questa stagione. Molto simile ad un altro dei colori NARS più popolari - Dolce Vita - è Bourjois Cream Blush in 04 Sweet Cherry (€10.77), perfetto per ricreare guance arrossate da una passeggiata nella neve. Prometto che prima o poi smetterò di cantare le lodi di questi blush, ma per il momento non riesco a metterli via. Sweet Cherry è un rosa rosso con un finish opaco, semplicissimo da picchiettare velocemente sulle guance ed uscire.

 

Infine, anche se la mia scelta per i mesi più freddi ricade spessissimo su rossi scuri e bacca decisi, a volte sento il bisogno di tonalità più delicate, specialmente se per gli occhi ho scelto uno smokey eye. MAC Lipstick in Syrup (€18.65) è una versione più scura del colore delle mie labbra, un rosa medio con giusto una punta di prugna. L'ho comprato un po' d'impulso, dopo una giornata da dimenticare, ma a quanto pare la mia frustrazione ha un ottimo gusto per il makeup. Come altri rossetti dal finish Lustre, è lucido ed idratante - un sollievo per le mie labbra secche -, ma dura abbastanza a lungo e la coprenza è facilmente modulabile.

001 You know how much I love trying out new foundations and with a soft spot for treatment makeup, the new YSL Youth Liberator Serum Foundation got my attention right away. I can't wait to give it a try; I only hope it won't be as heavily scented as other YSL products are.

002 I've been all over blender sponges lately and given my endless love for Real Techniques I couldn't let this one go unnoticed. Sam's such an enabler. I've been watching her tutorials on the RT channel in the past few days and I may or may not have clicked on the checkout button already.

003 Strictly speaking, I wouldn't say I need a new powder; however Bourjois is another of those brands I can't really resist to. Besides I don't think need has anything to do with cute illuminating powders in pretty vintage packaging, am I right? Let's hope it appears on Asos very soon, 'cause I've been stalking the website with alarming frequency lately and I feel like such a weirdo.

004 I've been watching Charlotte Tilbury and her work since way before she started a YT channel - after appearing in one of Lisa Eldridge's videos -, and her Magic cream felt like something almost mythologycal to me. Imagine my happiness when I found out it was going to be available for purchase. However 70£ are a little too much for a blind purchase but hopefully I'll be able to try out a sample very soon. Cross your fingers for me!

005 At first I dismissed the whole RiRi Love collection, because the packaging looks oh so cheap and a bit rubbish to me, and I couldn't see why I should spend extra money for a bunch a repackaged permanent products and only a few limited editions - also I'm quite sure the collection will go out of stock in a matter of seconds and I'm not a fan of race shopping -. However after reading Jessica's review of the Bad Girl Gone Good blush I had to rethink the whole thing. This shade looks so pretty on fair skin and I might actually try to get my hands on it.

001 Sapete quanto ami testare nuovi fondotinta e visto il mio debole per i prodotti makeup con trattamento incluso, il nuovo Youth Liberator Serum Foundation di YSL mi ha fatto subito drizzare le antenne. Non vedo l'ora di provarlo, spero soltanto che la profumazione non sia forte come nel resto dei prodotti del marchio.

002 Mi sembrava scortese non includere la Miracle Sponge nella mia wishlist vista la mia recentissima ossessione per le spugnette stile beauty blender e poi, proprio non so resistere ai prodotti Real Techniques. Sam è tremenda comunque. Ho guardato i suoi video sul canale RT negli ultimi giorni e potrei o non potrei aver già cliccato sul bottone del checkout.

003 Non che mi serva una nuova polvere ma Bourjois è un altro di quei marchi a cui difficilmente riesco a resistere. E comunque non credo servano particolari scuse per acquistare una polvere illuminante contenuta in una scatolina in stile vintage così graziosa. Spero compaia presto su Asos. Sto diventando una di quelle persone ossessive che controllano il sito due volte al giorno.

004 Seguo Charlotte Tilbury da ben prima che fosse ospite in uno dei video di Lisa Eldridge ed aprisse il suo canale, e la sua Magic cream è sempre stata una specie di bestia mitologica per me. Quando ho sentito che Charlotte stava per lanciarla sul mercato ho improvvisato un balletto. Ora, 70£ sono comunque tante per un acquisto alla cieca, ma prossimamente, se tutto va bene, dovrei riuscire a mettere le mani su un sample. Incrociate le dita con me!

005 All'inzio ho scartato l'intera collezione RiRi Love, perchè il packaging mi sembra pacchiano ed un po' cheap, e davvero faccio fatica a giustificare il costo extra per l'edizione limitata di prodotti che per la maggior parte fanno parte della linea permanente - poi diciamocelo, questo tipo di collezioni spariscono dai negozi in poche ore ed io non sono una fan dello shopping a cronometro -. Però dopo aver letto la recensione di Jessica su Beautezine del blush Bad Girl Gone Good ho avuto un ripensamento. Il blush è uno splendore sulle carnagioni chiare e potrei provare a metterci le mani sopra (senza particolare impegno però perchè temo di essere già in ritardo).

The Event: LUSH Christmas 2013 Preview

Some of us can't decide what to have for lunch, like yours truly here, and some, like LUSH's little helpers, are already all geared up and ready for Christmas. A week ago I popped along to LUSH headquarters for a sneak peek at the upcoming Holiday collection and I got the chance to play with some of the amazing products that will go on sale in the next few hours.

LUSH's one is a-go-big-or-go-home kind of Christmas, with almost 40 wonderful gifts and tons of brand new product as well as some welcome returns. First of all one of my personal favourites, the uber popular Let the good times roll cleanser. If you haven't tried it last year, you missed all the fun, let me tell you. It's a fantastic cleanser, perfect for dry skin but everyone can use it really; and it smells like sweet popcorns and vanilla cake. If this doesn't make you want to pop into a store right away, I don't know what else will.

Another favourite of mine, the sweet and creamy almond-scented Snowcake soap, is making a comeback along with Golden wonder bath ballistic, a must have for glitter lovers and citrus scent fiends. Tangerine lovers will be happy to see Father Christmas bath ballistic back in store and the ones that love glitters and sweet scents will go crazy for Snow Fairy shower gel and its friends: the distinctive bubblegum scent will be also available as bubble bar - Candy Mountain and Magic Wand - and as glitter packed massage bar - Snow Fairy Sparkle -.
Among the new products my favourites are for sure the adorable Christmas Penguin bubble bar, which will fill your bath of a ton of soft light blue bubbles, and Secret Santa bath bomb that mimics the wonderful LUSH shop's scent.

C'è chi, come la sottoscritta, non sa ancora cosa mangerà a pranzo e chi, come LUSH, a settembre è già pronto per il Natale. La scorsa settimana ho avuto il piacere di partecipare all'evento/preview della collezione natalizia proprio nella sede centrale di LUSH qui a Milano, e pasticciare un po' con vecchie conoscenze e grandi novità.

L'idea alla base della collezione natalizia è quella di creare prodotti in tema con le feste ma con le profumazioni della linea permanente, così che chi riceve uno dei regali LUSH possa provare ed apprezzare queste coccole in edizione limitata e riscoprire in seguito le stesse profumazioni nei saponi e bagni doccia disponibili tutto l'anno. Così per esempio nasce Rimpinguin, uno spumante da bagno dalla simpatica forma di pinguino e al profumo di Mediterraneo, che si dissolve nell'acqua in morbidissime bolle idratanti.

Con quasi 40 confezioni regalo, tra buffe scatole iper colorate e pacchetti incartati con romantiche carte da pacco vecchio stile c'è solo l'imbarazzo della scelta. Come sempre ci sono alcune novità e molti graditissimi ritorni. Primo fra tutti l'amatissimo cleanser Maisenza a base di farina di polenta e pop corn e dall'indimenticabile profumo di torta, che ci ha lasciati orfani lo scorso anno con il finire della stagione delle feste. Questa volta vi consiglio di fare scorta e riporre un paio di barattoli in freezer, come ho fatto io l'anno scorso, per non sentire troppo la mancanza del Natale in primavera. Ancora, tornano Biancaneve - il mio sapone preferito di sempre al latte di mandorla - e Ti Adoro, la ballistica delle feste per eccellenza a forma di pacchetto dorato; Faccia da Babbo all'essenza di mandarino e con un divertente cuore verde e Fate Voi, il popolarissimo gel doccia delle fate al profumo di caramella, a cui si affiancano l'omonimo spumante ed un olio brillantinato per il corpo a forma di fatina per serate davvero magiche.

Tra le novità, Il Casino Delle Feste, una ballistica gigante con sorpresa, creata a grande richiesta con il profumo inconfondibile della bottega LUSH, e Fun d'oro, un Fun in edizione limitata al profumo di Non si mangia tutto coperto di brillantini dorati.
E per prepararsi ai baci sotto il vischio, ecco Santa's Lip Scrub al dolce sapore di datteri ed amarene e con caramelle scoppiettanti a forma di cuore, e Santa Baby la tinta labbra rossa come il Natale, che mi ha rubato il cuore per il colore intenso e la durata incredibile.

I miei preferiti sono senza dubbio il pinguino Rimpinguin, il Casino delle Feste e la tinta Santa Baby, ma farei davvero fatica a trovare qualcosa non di mio gusto in mezzo a tutte queste meraviglie.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer spf 30/PA+++ // Caudalie Figue De Vigne Eau Fraiche* // Bourjois Cream Blush #02 Healthy Glow // KIKO Blender Sponge // Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick in Red Sunrise & Orange Punch // MAC Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder in Nude On Board

September has been a very good month beauty wise. The weather has been lovely and I got to try some amazing products, a few of which made it to my shortlist along with an old guy that has been neglected for way too long.

Starting up with makeup I decided it was time to dust off my NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer spf30/PA+++ (£28) - well that was a mouthful - and see if I could make it work this time. When I firstly tried it, about a year ago or so, I wasn't overly impressed. What kept me on the fence about this product, besides the slight oxidation, is the finish, more on the verge of sweaty glow rather than healthy glow, which might enhance pores and imperfections. However lately I've been applying it with the KIKO Blender Sponge which somehow manages to tone down the glow, provides a radiant, flawless finish and makes building the coverage so much easier. The oxidation is still an issue unfortunately but I can make it work anyways now that I have a little color left from summer and I've been enjoying the extra-light texture a lot lately.

After raving so much about them in my previous review (here) I couldn't leave the Bourjois Cream Blushes (£7.99) out of my favourites. 02 Healthy Glow is the one I wore the most, simply because it's your typical goes-with-everything shade. Bourjois blushes are so easy to brush on and go and the formula is such a pleasure to work with. I'm in love, you guys!

Also from Bourjois I've been loving the Color Boost Glossy Lipstick Crayon (£7.99) in 01 Red Sunrise and 03 Orange Punch, a beautiful cherry red that makes my teeth look uber white and a pretty pink-ish orange respectively. I'm not sold on this whole pencil lipstick thing yet, however these Color Boosts got me after just one use: they're incredibly moisturizing and super comfortable to wear, easy to apply and touch-up on the go and the color wears off nicely throughout the day. I can't swear on the 10 hours wear but they hold their ground during regular meals and last quite a long time. They're great and definitely worth the hype and I'd love to see some dark shades for fall too.

Finally, I felt a little guilty adding a limited edition product to my favourites but the Temperature Rising collection didn't come out too long ago and there's still a chance for you to get your hands on it. MAC Nude On Board Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder (£22) is the perfect bronzer for fair ladies: it's a yellow based bronzer with no orange in sight, semi-sheer but easy to build and with just enough shimmer to give a natural bronze glow. I've used it loads in the past months and god knows I'm not a bronzer girl. Knowing how hard it is to find a nice bronzer that doesn't make porcelain complexions look dirty, I really hope to see this in the permanent range someday.

The fig-obsession saga continues with the newest addiction to my fragrance line up, the Caudalie Figue de Vigne Eau Fraiche* (£23.40). Caudalie approaches the scent in a more grown-up way - compared for instance to Diptyque's Philosykos that I featured in my latest monthly favourites -, with a muskier base and warm citrusy notes in the background that smell like summer in the Mediterranean sea and fig leaves. It's perfect for the warm season but it will also be a nice transition scent toward fall. Really lovely.

It's been a nice month, still a bit summer-ish, but I'm so glad we're finally moving into fall. I'm really excited for berry shades and sultry eyeshadow looks and I can't wait to take out boots, jumper and trench coats.

Settembre è stato davvero un buon mese, soprattutto per quanto riguarda il beauty. Il tempo è stato magnifico e sono riuscita a provare moltissimi nuovi prodotti, alcuni dei quali sono entrati di diritto nella lista dei preferiti del mese, insieme ad un vecchio conoscente che è stato ignorato troppo a lungo.

Iniziando con il makeup, mi sono decisa a rispolverare il NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer spf30/PA+++ (€34) e provare a farlo funzionare questa volta. La prima volta che l'ho provato, più o meno un anno fa, non sono rimasta particolarmente colpita. A parte l'ossidazione del colore, ciò che mi ha impedito di apprezzarlo completamente è la luminosità quasi eccessiva - al limite dell'effetto lucido più che radioso -, che tende a mettere in evidenza le imperfezioni ed i pori. Questa volta però, invece di mani e pennelli vari, ho utilizzato la Blender Sponge di KIKO (€5.90) ottenendo risultati di gran lunga migliori: la spugnetta in qualche modo riduce la luminosità ad un livello più gradevole, aiuta ad ottenere una coprenza migliore ed a perfezionare l'incarnato. L'ossidazione è ancora un problema purtroppo, ma finchè avrò ancora un po' di colore estivo residuo potrò utilizzarlo tranquillamente, e la texture ultra leggera è davvero piacevole.

Dopo averne parlato così bene nella mia review (qui) non potevo certo lasciar fuori i Bourjois Cream Blushes (€10.40) dalla lista dei preferiti. 02 Healthy Glow è quello che ho utilizzato di più per tutto settembre, semplicemente perchè si tratta della tipica tonalità che và con tutto. I blush Bourjois sono perfetti per un'applicazione al volo e la formula è un piacere da utilizzare. Li adoro, c'è poco da aggiungere.

Sempre di Bourjois, ultimamente ho amato i Color Boost Glossy Lipstick Crayon (€10.40) in 01 Red Sunrise e 03 Orange Punch, un bellissimo rosso ciliegia che fa sembrare i miei denti bianchissimi, ed un rosa arancio rispettivamente. Non sono ancora molto convinta di questa moda dei matitoni rossetto, ma la proposta Bourjois mi ha conquistata fin da subito: sono incredibilmente idratanti e molto confortevoli da indossare, facili da applicare ed eventualmente ritoccare al volo ed il colore svanisce in modo uniforme, senza orribili righe o macchie. Non metto la mano sul fuoco sulle 10 ore di durata ma resistono bene ai pasti e durano abbastanza a lungo. Sono ottimi e condivido l'entusiasmo collettivo, e butto lì una richiesta per dei colori autunnali già che ci sono.

Ero in dubbio se inserire o meno questo prodotto nei preferiti, visto che si tratta di una edizione limitata, ma mi sono accorta che sul sito è ancora disponibile, per cui farò un'eccezione. MAC Nude On Board Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder (€32.77) è la terra perfetta per noi ragazze chiare: è un bronzer a base gialla e nemmeno lontanamente arancione, dalla coprenza leggera ma facile da modulare e con la giusta quantità di iridescenza per donare una gradevole luminosità all'incarnato. L'ho utilizzato tantissimo negli ultimi mesi e dio solo sa che non sono affatto una fan dei bronzer. Sapendo quanto sia difficile trovare una terra abbronzante che non faccia sembrare le carnagioni di porcellana sporche, spero davvero di rivedere questo prodotto nella linea permanente un giorno.

La saga dell'ossessione per il profumo di fico continua con l'ultima aggiunta alla mia collezione di profumi, il Caudalie Figue de Vigne Eau Fraiche* (€26.40). Caudalie si accosta alla fragranza in un modo maturo, più adulto - rispetto per esempio a Philosykos di Diptyque di cui vi ho parlato nei miei precedenti preferiti del mese -, con una base muschiata e note calde di agrumi sullo sfondo, che si uniscono in un delizioso profumo di foglie di fico ed estati nel Mediterraneo. Perfetto per la stagione estiva ma anche un'ottima fragranza di transizione verso l'autunno. Adorabile.

E' stato un buon mese, ancora piuttosto estivo, ma sono contenta di queste prime avvisaglie d'autunno. Attendevo con ansia il momento degli smokey carichi e delle tonalità bacca ed è già un po' che aspetto di tirar fuori dagli armadi maglioni, stivali e trench. Amo troppo la stagione fredda!

Yesterday I woke up feeling miserable, with a congested cold, and with of course an event to attend to in the evening. With so little time to fix things, triage is the way and after some rummaging in my skincare drawer and a quick sortie inside my kit, I put together this little rescue team.

When I'm sick my skin is the first to give in and can get really blotchy and dehydrated. Thankfully the night before I've been smart enough to slap on some Origins Dink Up Intensive Overnight Mask (£22) before bed and I was able to limit the damage. Drink Up is a great option to quick-fix dry, lackluster skin. As the name suggests it's a sleep-in mask; you apply it before bed, instead of your standard night skincare routine and forget about it till morning. Not only it does smell utterly delicious - which I understand, is not necessary but it's always a nice extra - but leaves the skin so plump and deeply moisturized and definitely much more manageable. I use it every time my skin feels a bit tight and rough or after particularly stressful days, just to be sure not to wake up in the morning looking awful.
Despite the intense hydration, my skin was still looking a bit grey and that's when the Bliss Triple Oxigen Instant Energizing Mask 10ml (£5.10) stepped in. It's a lovely instant fix mask that starts foaming on damp skin, and in less than 5 minutes brings out the glow, as well as cleaning up the pores to prevent breakouts. I love using this one in the morning; the light tingling sensation is really refreshing and truly energizing. After bringing some colour back to my cheeks, I then took care of my puffy eyes with a bit of Origins No Puffery Cooling Roll-on (£24). This product hasn't left my side since I bought it. As a contact wearer I get really itchy eyes and by the end of the day they can feel a bit sore. The metal rolling ball feels amazing on the under eye area and distributes a thin layer of product I then work into the skin with a few light pinches. The cooling effect is so soothing and the product works really well at both reducing puffiness and brightening dark circles. I've been using it like crazy lately.
I've also been reaching a lot for the NUXE Reve De Miel Lip Balm (£9.50) to moisturize my chapped lips and my nostrils as well. Since I've been blowing my nose every 10 seconds, I wanted to avoid redness and dry patches and so far I managed to keep both at bay.

Lastly, before putting my makeup on, I pulled out the heavy artillery. The Clarins Beauty Flash Balm (£29) is one of the most reliable products I own and I can't recommend it enough. It can be used as a facial mask but I like it best as a primer. I gently smooth a thin layer all over my face and dab what's left on my hands on my eyelids and under the eyes. It instantly adds a lot of luminosity and tightens the skin and of course helps foundation to stay put for longer. It's the classic million-dollar-skin product and lifts the skin like nothing else. Unfortunately it can only be used sparingly otherwise the skin could get used to it and the wow effect could disappear.

Makeup of course played a major role in my routine but as usual a great base makes all the difference in the world. What are the products you reach for when you want to look your best even on your worst days?

Ieri mattina mi sono svegliata in uno stato pietoso, con un tremendo raffreddore, e naturalmente un evento a cui partecipare in serata. Con così poco tempo per limitare i danni, il triage mi è sembrato l'unica soluzione e dopo aver frugato nel cestino dei prodotti skincare ed una rapida sortita nel mio kit, ho messo insieme questa squadra di pronto intervento.

Quando sono malata la mia pelle è la prima a cedere e può diventare molto secca e poco uniforme. Fortunatamente la sera prima, viste le avvisaglie del malanno, ho avuto la prontezza di applicare un po' di Origins Dink Up Intensive Overnight Mask (€25) prima di andare a letto, riuscendo così a limitare i danni. Drink Up è un'ottima opzione quando si tratta di rimediare velocemente a pelle secca ed opaca. Come suggerisce il nome, si tratta di una maschera per la notte, da applicare prima di andare a dormire ed in sostituzione della normale routine serale. Non solo ha un profumo delizioso - che capisco, non è essenziale, ma è sempre un extra piacevole - ma lascia la pelle del viso soda e profondamente idratata, ed ovviamente più facile da gestire. La uso ogni volta che provo quella fastidiosa sensazione di pelle che tira o dopo giornate particolarmente stressanti, giusto per essere sicura di non svegliarmi con una faccia disastrosa.
Nonostante l'intensa idratazione avevo comunque un colorito un po' grigiastro ed è qui che è entrata in gioco la Bliss Triple Oxigen Instant Energizing Mask 10ml (€6.25). E' un'ottima maschera ad effetto rapido che si trasforma in schiuma a contatto con la pelle bagnata ed in meno di 5 minuti dona luminosità all'incarnato e ripulisce i pori per prevenire future imperfezioni. Adoro utilizzarla al mattino: la leggera sensazione delle bollicine che scoppiano è molto rinfrescante e davvero energizzante. Dopo aver sistemato il colorito, sono passata a gli occhi gonfi con un velo di Origins No Puffery Cooling Roll-on (€26). Questo prodotto è diventato assolutamente indispensabile per me e non ha lasciato il mio fianco dal momento dell'acquisto. Visto che porto le lenti a contatto secchezza e gonfiore sono all'ordine del giorno, soprattutto verso sera. L'applicatore a sfera ha un effetto fantastico sulla pelle e distribuisce una piccola quantità di gel rinfrescante che poi picchietto con i polpastrelli, aiutandomi con leggeri pizzicotti per drenare. La sensazione di freschezza è piacevolissima ed il prodotto riduce il gonfiore con efficacia ed illumina le occhiaie. Ne sto usando quantità industriali ultimamente.
Ho sfruttato tantissimo anche il NUXE Reve De Miel Lip Balm (€12)per ammorbidire le labbra secche e proteggere le narici. Utilissimo per tenere a bada rossore e secchezza nonostante l'uso continuo di fazzolettini.

Infine, pochi minuti prima di applicare il fondotinta, ho tirato fuori l'artiglieria pesante. Il Clarins Beauty Flash Balm (€32.50) è uno dei prodotti più affidabili che possiedo e non posso raccomandarlo abbastanza. Può essere utilizzato anche come maschera ma trovo che funzioni al meglio come primer. Ne spalmo una piccola quantità sul viso e picchietto quel che resta sulle mani su palpebre e zona occhiaie. Dona luminosità e compatta la pelle quasi instantaneamente, oltre a far sì che il fondotinta duri più a lungo. E' il classico prodotto da utilizzare nelle occasioni speciali, per una pelle da un milione di dollari. Purtroppo va utilizzato con moderazione, altrimenti la pelle potrebbe abituarsi ed i benefici finirebbero con lo sparire.

Naturalmente il makeup ha avuto un ruolo fondamentale nel rendermi presentabile, ma come sempre un' ottima base fa tutta la differenza del mondo. Quali sono i prodotti miracolosi cui ricorrete per essere al meglio anche quando non vi sentite al meglio?

The Event: Faby Eclectic Press Day

Something exciting coming your way in guise of a bunch of cute nail polish bottles!
A few days ago I attended the international Faby Line press day. I was expecting the usual 'here's-your-drink-have-a-tour-bye' event, instead I found myself sorrounded by enthusiastic people ready to answer all my questions and show me around.
I basically swooned all over the gorgeous shade selection and over the new Eclectic collection in particular. The collection features 12 brand new shades with a mix of creamy textures and iridescent finishes and a gorgeous topcoat jam-packed with golden specks, which might actually be my favourite of the bunch along with Cleo's talisman, a stunning olive green and brownish plum duo-chrome. But what about Marisol està caliente, a great metallic pumpkin orange, or A rhyme for Roxanne, a sultry burgundy polish that literally screams Fall? I couldn't pick one shade to save my life and unfortunately I missed my chance to get my nail polish applied by the Faby nail techs. However I got an awesome press bag with three pretty shades I couldn't wait to dip my paws into. I'll report on them very soon but let me give you a little spoiler: the pigmentation is absolutely jaw-dropping! Also I might have found my perfect mannequin polish. Watch this space, you guys!

Overall one of the best press events I've attended in a while. It's always nice to see so many passionate people that can't wait to show you their work and I'm looking forward to seeing what Faby Line has in store for the upcoming seasons. See anything that tickles your fancy?

Attenzione appassionate di smalti! Ci sono grandi novità in arrivo.
Qualche giorno fa ho partecipato alla presentazione internazionale di Faby Line, brand che forse conoscerete come distributore italiano di OPI e che di recente ha deciso di lanciare sul mercato la propria linea di smalti. Mi aspettavo il solito evento 'prendi-un-drink-fatti-un-giro-ciao' invece negli splendidi giardini dell'Hotel Sheraton Diana Majestic sono stata accolta da uno staff davvero entusiasta, pronto a rispondere alle mie domande e farmi fare un tour.
In sostanza sono andata in estasi di fronte alla fantastica gamma di colori ed in particolare di fronte alla collezione Eclectic per l'autunno/inverno. Si tratta di 12 nuovissime tonalità, tra texture cremose e finish cangianti, più un magnifico top coat stracolmo di pagliuzze dorate, che potrebbe essere il mio preferito della collezione insieme a Cleo's talisman, un duo-chrome verde oliva e prugna. Ma che dire di Marisol està caliente, un favoloso arancio zucca metallizzato, o di A rhyme for Roxanne, un borgogna scurissimo che più autunnale non si può. Così su due piedi non avrei saputo scegliere un colore per salvarmi la vita e purtroppo ho perso l'occasione di farmi applicare lo smalto dalle nail tech Faby presenti. Comunque con la press bag ho ricevuto tre graziosi smalti che non vedevo l'ora di provare. Ve ne parlerò molto presto, ma intanto vi lascio con uno spoiler: la coprenza è da perdere la testa! E potrei aver trovato il mio smalto-manichino perfetto. Tenete d'occhio queste pagine!

Nell'insieme è stato uno degli eventi meglio riusciti a cui abbia preso parte di recente. E' sempre piacevole trovarsi di fronte persone appassionate che non vedono l'ora di mostrare il proprio lavoro, ed io non vedo l'ora di scoprire cosa Faby abbia in serbo per le prossime stagioni. The Budget Buy: Bourjois Cream Blushes

 

Bourjois Cream Blush #01 Nude Velvet // #02 Healthy Glow // #03 Rose Tender // #04 Sweet Cherry

Isn't it beautiful when something purchased on a whim turns out to be amazing?
Despite having heard a lot of nice things about the latest Bourjois release, I was still on the fence about these beauties - I wasn't sure I could fit another cream blush in my stash to be completely honest - but when Asos put them on offer I knew it was time to take a leap of faith and I'm so glad I did. It turned out not only I did need one of these blushes in my life but actually I needed them all. Oh so naughty.

The Bourjois Little Round Pot Cream Blushes (£7.99) are a dream to work with: they blend so well, go on really nicely and are easily buildable for statement looks. The cream-to-powder finish reminds me of the NARS formula, only the texture here is creamier and less thick and for that so much easier to apply. The beautiful skin-like finish is extremely natural and flattering and the lasting power is really good, but most products tend to last a long time on me anyways, so I might not be the best judge in this case. They're best applied with a buffing brush or a blender sponge, but fingers will do all the same.
They're available in 4 pretty shades but I hope the range will include some brights in the future as well. Keep in mind I am as pale as living things can go and while these blushes look lovely on my porcelain skin they might get lost on deeper complexions.
Healthy Glow 02 is probably the most popular shade and the first one I picked. Is a pale coral that would suit most skin tones and as the name suggests gives a natural, healthy glow to the skin. Bonne mine look enthusiasts like me will love Nude Velvet 01 as much as I do: it's the most perfect nude blush with just the right amount of pink but verging slightly on the peach side. It's simple but so pretty nonetheless.
I usually stay clear of pale pinks as, save for a few exceptions, they tend to look a bit artificial on me and bring out the redness in my skin, however Rose Tender 03 is a great pick-me up pink, fresh and so cheering. It's a touch shimmery in the pan but the silver sparkles are pretty much undetectable on the cheeks.
Last but not least Sweet Cherry 04 is a medium reddish pink with a hint of plum, which provides a lovely Snow white flush. It might actually be my favourite of the bunch and I can tell is going to be a staple of mine for the cooler months to come.

Bourjois is quickly becoming one of the most exciting brands on the market, don't you think? Have you tried these blushes? What's your favourite shade?

Non è bellissimo quando un prodotto comprato d'impulso si dimostra fantastico?
Nonostante avessi già letto alcuni commenti positivi sull'ultima proposta Bourjois, ero ancora in dubbio sull'acquisto - il mio primo problema riguardava il mio cassetto strabordante di blush ed il dubbio che potesse contenerne ancora - ma quando Asos li ha messi in saldo ho deciso di buttarmi e sono felicissima di averlo fatto. Non solo ho scoperto che avevo davvero bisogno di uno di questi blush nella mia vita, ma che in realtà mi servivano tutti. Sono pessima.

I Bourjois Little Round Pot Cream Blushes (€10.40) sono un sogno da applicare: si sfumano bene, si applicano facilmente ed è possibile intensificare il colore per un effetto deciso. Il finish cream-to-powder mi ricorda quello dei blush in crema di NARS, ma la texture è più cremosa e meno densa e per questo si sfumano molto più facilmente. L'aspetto finale è molto naturale, come pelle, e la durata è ottima, ma tenete presente che su di me quasi tutti i prodotti hanno una buona durata, per cui potrei non essere il miglior giudice in questo senso. Trovo che un pennello denso per il fondotinta o una spugna blender siano gli strumenti migliori per applicarli, ma anche le dita permettono di ottenere ottimi risultati.
Al momento sono disponibili in quattro colori; un po' pochini, è vero, ma spero che presto il range verrà arricchito da altre tonalità più accese. Tenete in mente che sono color obitorio, per cui sebbene questi blush si adattino perfettamente al mio incarnato di porcellana, potrebbero risultare pressochè invisibili sulle carnagioni più scure.
Healthy Glow 02 è forse la tonalità più popolare, la prima che ho comprato e nonchè la causa degli acquisti successivi. E' un corallo chiaro piuttosto universale, che, come suggerisce il nome, dona un colorito salutare e radioso alle guance. Le fan del look bonne mine senz'altro ameranno Nude Velvet 01 almeno quanto me: è il blush nude per eccezione, con un tocco di rosa ma leggeramente tendente al pesca. E' semplice ma non per questo meno grazioso.
Di solito cerco di stare alla larga dai blush rosa chiari perchè, salvo rare eccezioni, sembrano molto artificiali su di me e  tendono ad accentuare i rossori tipici delle pelli più chiare; Rose Tender 03 invece è un favoloso rosa 'tiramisù', fresco ed allegro. La calda è lievemente perlata ma l'iridescenza argentata si nota appena sulle guance.
Ultimo ma non meno importante Sweet Cherry 04, un rosa-rosso medio con una punta di prugna, perfetto per guance da Biancaneve. Credo proprio che sia quello che preferisco dei 4 e so già che avrà un posto fisso nella mia makeup bag per la stagione fredda in arrivo.
