MAC has been supporting the fight against HIV/AIDS since 1994 with the VIVA GLAM project, devolving 100% of the sale price of the VG lipsticks and glosses to the cause and achieving remarkable success. Last year the six permanent shades in the VG collection were joined by the beautiful Lady Gaga and Cindy Lauper shades, unfortunately for a limited time only, but I believe the new Lady Gaga2 will be available till February 2012; also both the old and the current shades are now re-promoted in a special Christmas set with a lovely red pouch, that would make the perfect gift for a makeup junkie friend. I was amazed by the many things that can be done with just one VIVA GLAM product: safe places to sleep for two nights in institutions, food and snacks for a whole week, provide three psychosocial counseling sessions with a client, provide a 75-day supply of HIV/AIDS medicine in child-friendly formulation, ensure that a pregnant woman newly diagnosed with HIV/AIDS is given the hope, education and encouragement to know that she can deliver a healthy baby… and so much more. Oggi, come sapete è la giornata mondiale per la lotta contro l’AIDS. Prendersi un minuto per pensare a come aiutare gli altri è sempre buona cosa: fare del bene, si sa, fa sentire bene. E se si può, come in questo caso, fare beneficienza e allo stesso tempo coccolare se stessi, si è invogliati a dare ancora di più.

Lo scorso anno ai sei rossetti permanenti della linea si sono affiancati i bellissimi VG Gaga e Cindy, tonalità firmate niente meno che da Lady Gaga e Cindy Lauper; purtroppo erano limited edition ma i prodotti VG Gaga 2 saranno disponibili fino a Febbraio 2012 e per questo Natale i due lipstick Gaga – 1 e 2 - sono in vendita in un set speciale che farebbe la gioia di una qualunque makeup junkie. Quando ho scoperto ciò che si può fare con il ricavato di un solo prodotto VG sono rimasta senza parole: si può fornire un posto letto sicuro per due notti in istituto, procurare cibo e snacks per un’intera settimana ad un malato, fornire 3 sedute di counseling psicosociale ad un paziente, rifornire una scorta di 75 giorni di medicinali per bambini, si possono donare ad una madre con HIV/AIDS neo-diagnosticata la speranza, l'educazione e il coraggio necessari per dare alla luce un bambino sano, e tanto tanto altro.
