Shopping my stash #2

A couple of day ago I felt like cleaning up a bit and went digging through my collection looking for expired products and some unused bits to add to my blog sale section. In the depth of my spare train case I managed to find a couple of long forgotten - shame on me! - gems that definitely deserve some love.

The most recent raid inside my beauty collection highlighted the very first clues of a soon to become problem: Houston, we've got a blush situation. I couldn't believe my eyes, literally blushes everywhere. Looking back on it, I think I may have counterbalanced the lip gloss and nail polish ban with a blush spree. No good. Anyways, back to business with, say what?

Yup. A blush.
I don't quite understand how this little beauty went lost while all my other Illamasqua blushes sit neatly in a drawer, but the fact is when Promise reappeared I quickly remembered why I fell in love with it in first place. It's the most perfect warm candy pink with of course the amazing texture of Illamasqua cream blushes and so pigmented you can go from bonne mine to full-on editorial look in one blink.

I was particularly glad to re-discover the MAC Loose beauty powder in Dancing light, which I believe is permanent in PRO stores. Basically it's a finely milled off-white, or very pale cool gold if you like, powder with micro shimmer and glitter flecks. It looks just like Vanilla pigment but on steroids and I know I'm going to love it during the Holiday season, but, you know what they say, it's never too soon for some glitters. I'm wearing it today ad a wash of color all over the lid and I also applied it on top of the cheekbones with a stippling brush to knockoff the excess glitters. Makes me feel like a million dollars.

Along with these two lovelies I found a lot of good stuff for my blog sale - always with the bad abit of buying dupes for everything -, so stay tuned for future updates.

Qualche giorno fa ero in vena di pulire ed ho messo mano alla mia collezione di makeup in cerca di prodotti scaduti oppure inutilizzati da vendere sul blog. Nelle profondità del mio train case di scorta ho ritrovato un paio di gemme a lungo dimenticate – che vergogna, lo so -, che meritano un po’ d’amore.

La più recente incursione nei meandri della mia collezione ha evidenziato una questione che promette di diventare preoccupante: Houston, abbiamo un problema di blush. Non potevo crederci, erano ovunque, alcuni ancora nella loro scatola. A ripensarci adesso credo di aver compensato il divieto di comprare lucidalabbra e smalti con un accumulo esagerato di blush. Mannaggia.
Comunque, torniamo a noi con, indovinate?

Eh già. Un blush.
Non sono sicura di come abbia potuto perderlo visto che tutti gli altri blush di Illamsqua sono riposti ordinatamente in un cassetto, fatto sta che quando Promise è ricomparso mi sono ricordata dei motivi che me ne hanno fatta innamorare in primo luogo. E’ un magnifico rosa caramella a base calda con ovviamente la favolosa texture propria di tutti i fard del marchio ed una fantastica pigmentazione che permettono di passare in un lampo dall’effetto bonne mine al look editoriale più carico.

Sono stata particolarmente contenta di ritrovare la polvere libera Dancing light di MAC, che credo sia permanente nei PRO store. In pratica è una polvere finissima quasi bianca, oppure oro freddo pallido se preferite, con iridescenza e glitter dello stesso colore. Sembra il pigmento Vanilla sotto steroidi e so già che lo utilizzerò tantissimo durante le feste, ma come si dice, non è mai troppo presto per il glitter. Lo sto indossando oggi su tutta la palpebra al posto dell’ombretto e l’ho anche applicato come illuminante sugli zigomi utilizzando un pennello a fibra doppia per eliminare i brillantini in eccesso. Fa molto trucco da tappeto rosso. 

Insieme a queste due delizie ho trovato delle belle cosette da aggiungere al blog sale – ho il vizio di acquistare sempre doppioni da tenere di scorta -, quindi tenete d’occhio la sezione per il prossimo aggiornamento.

Notd: Chanel Frenzy

Frenzy is described as a lilac grey, and that's what I expected when I purchased it. While I can definitely see the lilac and grey undertones, I'd say it looks more mushroom-y in real life, like the perfect balance of taupe, mauve and dove grey.
I really enjoy the Chanel formula: it's light weight, self smoothing and, in this case, quite chip resistant - still perfect after 5 days of wear -. And doesn't apply streaky like other similar pale shades.

In daylight it appears more grey, while artificial light pulls out the mauve-ish tones.
Overall is a very sophisticated nude nail polish, a new way to the mannequin style. I think it's best suited for lighter skin tones and considering the price tag and the particular shade, you may want to see it in person before buying.

I really hope Frenzy will make it to the permanent line because I love greys and nudes and this little hybrid here is a dream come true.

Chanel descrive Frenzy come un grigio lilla, e questo mi aspettavo quando ho acquistato lo smalto. I sottotoni grigi e lilla s'intravedono chiaramente, ma a me sembra più complesso come colore: è un talpa chiaro, come il colore dei funghi, con un perfetto equilibrio di grigio chiaro, malva e marrone grigio.
La formula Chanel mi è sempre piaciuta: leggera, auto levigante ed, in questo caso, abbastanza resistente - sono già passati 5 giorni e non c'è traccia di scheggiature -. E non ci sono le striature che ci si aspetterebbe con un colore chiaro come questo.

Alla luce del giorno sembra più grigio, mentre la luce artificiale mette in risalto il sottotono lilla/talpa.
Nell'insieme è un nudo molto sofisticato, la versione Chanel dello stile manichino. Credo che donerà di più alle carnagioni più chiare e, visti il prezzo ed il colore particolare, sarebbe meglio vederlo dal vivo prima di acquistarlo.

Spero che entri a far parte della linea permanente, perchè amo molto grigi e nudi, e questo ibrido è proprio un gioiellino.

Still desperately trying to keep track of everything that catches my eye. I'm so greedy...
But the good thing of fanta-shopping is it's almost as good and satisfying as the real thing and gives to wallets and bank accounts a little breathing space.

001 After dozen of quite stressful limited edition collections, I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the whole Cremesheen+pearl collection was going to be permanent. I'll try to be patient and slowly work my way through this beautiful line, with back2MACs where possible, but I'm already itching to try Pink pearl pop (the brightest pink), Coral bliss (a soft bonne mine coral) and Saigon summer (sheer bright tangerine). They're like Pokemons, gotta catch'em all!

002 Eyeshadow wise NARS is my second favorite brand ever - I'm not ready to fully cheat on MAC yet - and while I'm a big fan of the single eyeshadows, I simply adore the duos. I've been looking for a decent rose gold eyeshadow for a while now and almost every review seems to point to Alhambra - metallic rose gold and golden champagne -. Lovely, isn't it? Such a romantic and sophisticated combo.

003 The last time I stopped at the Burberry counter I swatched a couple of the permanent blushes and fell immediately in love with their soft, velvety texture; the shades however were quite dull and boring and I couldn't find anything worth the splurge. But it looks like something is finally moving in the color department because Temptalia's swatches for Blossom look very promising. My Burberry wishlist threatens to get out of hand very soon.

004 Studs. That's all I have to say.
I already own this bag in basic caramel and it's a big favorite of mine. It goes with many outfits and everytime I wear it I get tons of compliments. Besides it's huge and that's one of the prerequisites for my day bags. It has taken all my willpower not to buy it in dove grey last spring but I'm not sure I'll be able to resist to this shiny black beauty with studs. Swoon...

005 I don't even remember how long I've been craving for one of these PRO palettes - last year fashion weeks maybe? - but they'll finally hit stores in matter of days now. I have to say that the other combinations (plums, oranges, reds and browns) were kind of disappointing, but the pink one looks absolutely stunning. It features Pretty please, Please me, Lovelorn, Creme de la femme, Show orchid and Violetta lipsticks, all from the permanent line (swatches here). Since I don't own any of these shades and I'd never be brave enough to buy a full bullet of Show orchid, this palette is exactly what I need. Can't wait!

Cerco disperatamente di tenere il passo e prendere nota di tutto quello che cattura la mia attenzione. Sono così ingorda...
Ma c'è di buono che il fanta-shopping è quasi soddisfacente quanto lo shopping reale, e consente allo stesso tempo di calmare un poco il bisogno di comprare e dare un po' di respiro a portafogli e conti in banca.

001 Dopo quella che sembrava una serie infinita di collezioni ad edizione limitata, quasi non potevo credere ai miei occhi quanto ho letto che la collezione autunnale Cremesheen+pearl sarebbe entrata a far parte della linea permanente. Cercherò di essere paziente e dilazionare gli acquisti nel tempo, usando persino i back2MAC quando possibile, ma mi prudono già le mani all'idea di provare Pink pearl pop (il rosa più brillante), Coral bliss (un corallo delicato, effetto bonne mine) e Saigon summer (un mandarino semitrasparente). Sono come i Pokemon, devo collezionarli tutti!

002 In campo di ombretti, NARS è il mio secondo marchio preferito - non sono ancora pronta a tradire MAC - e mentre sono una fan degli ombretti singoli, semplicemente adoro i duo. E' un po' che cerco un ombretto oro rosa e quasi tutte le review mi riportano ad Alhambra - rosa oro metallizzato e champagne dorato -. Bellissimo, vero? Una combinazione romantica e sofisticata.

003 Durante la mia ultima visita al corner Burberry, ho swatchato i blush permanenti e sono subito stata colpita dalla texture morbida e vellutata; le tonalità però erano noiose e scialbe e non sono riuscita a trovare niente che valesse la spesa. Ma a quanto pare qualcosa si sta muovendo nel reparto colore perchè gli swatches del blush Blossom su Temptalia sembrano promettenti. Ah! La mia wishlist Burberry continua ad allungarsi!

004 Borchie. Ho detto tutto.
Possiedo già lo stesso modello in color caramello e senza borchie - la versione dell'anno scorso portata alla ribalta da Olivia Palermo - ed è uno dei pezzi preferiti della mia collezione di borse. Si abbina ad ogni outfit e ricevo tantissimi complimenti ogni volta che la indosso. Per di più è gigantesca, uno dei requisiti minimi delle mie borse da giorno. C'è voluta tutta la mia forza di volontà per non comprare la versione grigio chiaro di questa primavera, ma non credo che riuscirò a resistere a questa bellezza nero lucido e borchiata. Awwww...

005 Non saprei dire da quant'è che sogno queste Pro palette - forse dalla settimana della moda dell'anno scorso? - ma è ormai questione di giorni prima che arrivino nei negozi. Devo ammettere che le altre combinazioni (viola, rossi, marroni e arancioni) mi hanno un po' delusa, ma la palette rosa è favolosa. Contiene i rossetti permanenti Pretty please, Please me, Lovelorn, Creme de la femme, Show orchid e Violetta (qui gli swatches). Visto che non possiedo nessuno di questi colori e non avrei mai il coraggio di comprare un full size di Show orchid, questa palette è proprio un dono dal cielo. Non vedo l'ora!

Wee french pharmacy haul

When dad said he was going to tour South France for the holidays, I immediately thought of an endless list of french pharmacy products that I wanted him to buy for me. But knowing how much he'd rather chow his arm off than spend more than 3 minutes in a beauty store and also remembering that pharmacies in the countryside are not as well-stocked as the ones in Paris, I decided to keep it simple and stick to two of my favorite products hoping for a huge bargain. Dad obediently took some pictures with his phone to be sure to buy the right stuff and was good to go.

Unless you live in a cave, by now you must have heard of the Bioderma Crèaline H2O solution micellaire - we're talking about a great, water based and unscented makeup remover suited for sensitive skin and eyes, that easily removes any trace of makeup and waterproof mascara -, an old favorite of many MUAs around the world and more recently the cause of a huge sensation in the blogger community. It's still quite difficult to find in smaller stores but even if I'm lucky enough to be sorrounded by pharmacies that stock the basic Bioderma line, the price tag is always a little hard to swallow. This big guy here retails for €16.90 for 500ml in Italy while it goes for about half the price in France. Now I'm settled till next year at least.

While Caudalie is easier than Bioderma to find, I thought it was probably going to be cheaper in France, so I listed another staple of my skin care routine, the Beauty Elixir, too. It's basically water jam packed with vitamins and natural oils, that both nourishes the skin and gives an energy boost thanks to the strong herbal scent - the scent is not for everyone so be sure to try it before purchasing it -. Not a huge bargain, unfortunately - 8.90€ instead of 11€ - but still quite convenient.

Apparently my dad was enjoying the beauty shopping because he decided to throw in the cart an extra lemon-scented Marseille soap bar, that I'll probably keep in a drawer or the linen closet.

Quando ho sentito che papà avrebbe visitato il sud della Francia per le vacanze ho subito pensato ad una lunghissima lista di prodotti da farmacia francese che volevo provare. Però sapendo quanto mio padre si senta a disagio a stare per più di 3 minuti nel reparto makeup del supermercato e ricordandomi che le farmacie di campagna non sono fornite come quelle parigine, ho deciso di ridimensionare la lista e puntare su due dei miei prodotti preferiti e sperare in un buon affare. Dopo le fotografie di rito con il cellulare - probabilmente per sventolarlo sotto al naso della commessa francese ed essere sicuro di non sbagliare -, è partito in missione.

Se non vivete in una grotta, a questo punto avrete già sentito parlare della soluzione micellare di Bioderma - si tratta di un fantastico struccante, a base d'acqua e privo di profumo e adatto a pelli ed occhi sensibili, capace di rimuovere con facilità anche il mascara waterproof -, un vecchio amico dei truccatori di tutto il mondo, nonchè recente sensazione nella comunità blogger. E' abbastanza difficile da trovare nelle para-farmacie più piccole - qui l'elenco dei punti vendita -, ma fortunatamente qui intorno parecchi negozi vendono la linea base di Bioderma. Comunque il prezzo è difficile da mandar giù: costa 16.90€ per 500ml; in Francia invece costa la metà - chissà perchè questa disparità, poi-. Adesso sono sistemata fino all'anno prossimo.

Mentre Caudalie è decisamente più facile da trovare di Bioderma da noi - c'è persino l'e-shop - ho pensato che i prodotti sarebbero stati comunque un po' più economici in Francia, così ho messo in lista un altro dei prodotti fissi della mia routine, l'Acqua di bellezza. In pratica si tratta di un concentrato di vitamine ed oli naturali infusi in acqua, che nutrono ed hanno un effetto rinfrescante ed energizzante, soprattutto grazie al forte profumo erboso - che non è da tutti, quindi date un'annusata prima di comprare -. La convenienza non è straordinaria come per Bioderma, ma comunque meglio di niente - €8.90 invece di 10.90 per la bottiglia da 30ml -.

A quanto pare papà ci ha preso gusto, visto che ha aggiunto al carrello anche del sapone di Marsiglia profumato al limone, che credo terrò in un cassetto come profuma biancheria perchè è straordinario ma un po' forte da usare sul corpo.

Notd: Essie Topless & barefoot with a twist

As much as I enjoy funny and colorful nail arts, sometimes I feel the need to wear more elegant, plain shades. Essie Topless & barefoot is a beautiful creamy nude, with just the right amount of pink and beige to make it a very flattering shade for many skin tones. The formula is not too thin, not too creamy, easy to apply and opaque in just two coats. I hear many complaints about the brush in Essie polishes, but I didn't find the applicator particularly troublesome with this specific formula - while for example I find Mind candy apple quite annoying to work with -.

At the last second I decided to add an accent both on the ring finger and the thumb - not sure if you're suppose to keep it only on one finger, but I like it better this way - and to stay nude-ish I grabbed butter LONDON Tarte with a heart, a gorgeous cloudy clear base with tons of microglitters - even black ones! -  and some larger glitters that flash orange, lilac and pale green. An absolute stunner.

I loved this mix so much I kept glancing back at my nails every five seconds. Definitely not recommended for school days, it's way too distracting.

Per quanto mi piaccia creare nail art super colorate, a volte sento proprio il bisogno di indossare uno smalto più neutro ed elegante. Topless & barefoot di Essie è un magnifico nudo cremoso con il giusto equilibrio di rosa e beige per donare a diverse carnagioni. La formula è perfetta, non troppo liquida, non troppo cremosa, facile da applicare ed opaca in sole due passate. Sento molte lamentele a proposito dei pennelli Essie ma non ho avuto problemi con questa particolare formula - niente a che vedere con Mint candy apple che è veramente fastidioso da stendere -.

All'ultimo secondo ho deciso di aggiungere un po' di brio con un accent, sia sull'anulare sia sul pollice - forse ciu si dovrebbe attenere al singolo dito ma io preferisco così - e per restare sui toni neutri ho aggiunto una passata di butter LONDON Tarte with a heart, magnifici microglitter in varie tonalità - persino neri! - con glitter più grandi che riflettono arancione, lilla e verde pallido, tutti sospesi in una base quasi trasparente. Un incanto.

Il mix mi è piaciuto così tanto che mi sono ritrovata a fissarmi affascinata le unghie più di una volta. Decisamente sconsigliato per i giorni di scuola, quindi.

Fate parte anche voi del movimento 'unghie da manichino' oppure proprio non ce la fate a lasciar i colori più audaci nel cassetto?

Cath Kidston style cases

I'm a huge Cath Kidston fan. It's one of those brands that can potentially ruin my bank statement for good, so I try to behave and limit my visits to some harmless browsing and fanta-shopping.
But I've been lusting over their accessory selection for a long, long time and when I finally started to feel ashamed of my phone holder - a.k.a. a pink ankle sock -, it felt like the right time for a little splurge. And since I was looking for a phone case, why not to look for a matching iPad holder too? I'm a sucker for coordinates...

I needed something girly and cute but also good quality and well padded to protect my precious babies. Unfortunately my search on the e-shop was a little disappointing - only iPhone hard cases, boo - but I didn't gave up. And eBay didn’t let me down. 
I found exactly what I was looking for. I purchased both the cases from this seller, a lovely and talented girl based in the UK. The customer service was impeccable and the quality of her hand-made products jaw-dropping. I mean, look at the stitching and details! Ah.may.zing.
You can pick your favorite fabric, have the cases customized for your needs and have them sent to you in a couple of days. Just, wow.

Me being nosy as usual.. Do you protect your phone/iPad or you're one of those bold girls that throw them recklessly in the purse along with keys and coins?
Do you have an extra luxury case or, ahem, a sock?

Nutro una vera e propria adorazione per lo stile Cath Kidston. Se non maneggiata con cura questa adorazione potrebbe fare seri danni al mio conto in banca, quindi cerco di limitarmi al fanta-shopping ed ai piccoli sfizi quando il marchio è in saldo su Asos.
Però era da un po' che adocchiavo la linea di accessori e quando finalmente ho iniziato a vergognarmi della mia vecchia custodia del cellulare - alias il calzino rosa -, ho sentito che era giunto il momento di fare un acquisto serio. E visto che c'ero, perchè non cercare anche una custodia per l'iPad? Non so resistere ai coordinati...

Avevo in mente qualcosa di femminile e grazioso, ma comunque di buona qualità e bene imbottito per proteggere i miei tesssori. Sfortunatamente la ricerca nell'e-shop è stata infruttuosa - solo cover rigide per iPhone, buh! - ma non mi sono data per vinta ed eBay come al solito non mi ha delusa.
Ho trovato precisamente quello che stavo cercando. Ho acquistato entrambe le custodie da questo venditore, una ragazza deliziosa con base nel Regno Unito. Il servizio è stato impeccabile e la qualità dei prodotti fatti a mano toglie il fiato. Insomma, guardate le cuciture e i dettagli. Fa.vo.lo.si.
Si può scegliere la stoffa in stile Cath Kidston, richiedere modifiche per adattare la custodia al telefono/e-reader e vedersi spedire il proprio oggetto in un paio di giorni. Super efficiente.

Sono curiosa come al solito.. Proteggete i vostri telefoni o siete tra quelle ragazze ardite che lo gettano in borsetta con non curanza in mezzo a chiavi e monetine?

001 My Burberry wishlist is quite crowded but the Golden brown eyedefiner is first in line. Looks like an eyeliner but it's more like an eyeshadow pencil which gives the softest definition. I think it'll easily become a fall staple of mine.

002 About five minutes after I decide to buy YSL Parisiènne I get a sample of Burberry Body perfume and I'm back on indecision road. Typical. I really need to stop by a beauty store - definitely not the Burberry counter, the sales girls are always to pushy and desperate to sell - and sniff the eau de toilette version.

003 I'm a fan of the Caudalie Beauty elixir but it's a little too expensive for my liking, so I'm still looking for a low-priced alternative. This Grape water is a lot cheaper and sounds really promising.

004 I'm always looking forward to try new foundations and Hello flawless got amazing reviews. I need to put my hands on a sample ASAP.

005 I know everyone is getting really excited about the By request collection - the one that brings back some old MAC favorites - because of Candy yum yum lipstick, but Moth brown eyeshadow is the only product that really cought my eye after browsing some of the swatches online. It's a dark purple-grey with shimmer, nothing incredibly special or unique, but old beloved MAC knows how to glamour.

006 I'm a little late on this train but recently I've been getting more and more into hair care and I'm really curious to try this wonder brush that so many bloggers seem to love to pieces. I'm still in doubt about the design and the size I should buy so I'm open to suggestions. Actually it's a shame Tangle teezer makes the flower shaped one only for kids...

007 There's nothing worst than finishing up a product just to find out that you forgot to buy a back up in advance. A week ago I reached the bottom of my trusty MAC mineralize charged water eye cream and I panicked a little until I remembered I purchased a Benefit skin care minis set months ago. While I've been enjoying the whole line, this eye cream really stood up for me. It's moisturizing but not greasy and it's an amazing base for makeup. I'm definitely impressed.

001 La mia lista dei desideri Burberry è bella piena ma l'eyedefiner in Golden brown è il primo dell'elenco. Sembra un eyeliner ma funziona come un ombretto in crema per definire in maniera delicata. credo che diventerà uno dei miei preferiti autunnali.

002 Qualcosa come cinque minuti dopo che finalmente mi ero decisa a comprare YSL Parisiènne ho ricevuto un sample di Burberry Body e mi sono ritrovata di nuovo sul viale dell'indecisione. Tipico. Devo proprio passare da Sephora e co. - non il counter Burberry perchè le commesse sembrano sempre un po' troppo ansiose di vendere qualcosa e mi mettono ansia - per dare una bella annusata alle versione eau de toilette.

003 Adoro il Beauty elixir di Caudalie ma è un po' troppo costoso per i miei gusti, quindi sono sempre alla ricerca di un'alternativa più conveniente. L'Acqua d'uva bio è molto più economica e sembra promettente.

004 Mi diverto a provare nuovi fondotinta e l'Hello flawless ha avuto ottime recensioni. Devo mettere le mani su un sample il più presto possibil.

005 So che tutte sono in fibrillazione per la collezione By request di MAC in uscita a settembre - si tratta di una collezione che riporta nei negozi 9 prodotti limited edition di collezioni passate - per via del rossetto Candy yum yum, ma Moth brown è stato l'unico ad attirare veramente la mia attenzione mentre guardavo gli swatches online. E' un viola-grigio scuro iridescente, niente di incredibilemente innovativo o unico, ma MAC sa sempre come tentare le appassionate di makeup.

006 Arrivo un po' in ritardo con questo prodotto, ma ultimamente mi sono interessata sempre di più alla cura dei capelli e sono curiosa di provare questa spazzola miracolosa di cui tutti parlano. Sono ancora indecisa su colore e modello, per cui si accettano suggerimenti. E' un vero peccato che Tangle teezer faccia la spazzola a forma di fiore solo per bambini...

007 Non c'è niente di peggio di finire un prodotto e realizzare di non avere un'altra confezione in casa pronta all'uso. Una settimana fa ho toccato il fondo della mia fidata crema occhi Mineralize charged water di MAC e sono andata un po' nel panico prima di ricordarmi di un set di mini taglie di prodotti della linea skin care di Benefit. In realtà mi sta piacendo l'intera linea, ma la crema occhi ha impressionata moltissimo. E' idratante ma non unta, ed è un'ottima base per il trucco. Sono colpita.
