Chanel Glossimer #131 Mica review & swatches

From the moment I decided to put myself on a lip gloss ban, I’ve been very careful and diligent with my shopping. Last Saturday I bought the second of the five glosses I’m allowing myself to buy this year; it was kind of an impulse buy but I couldn’t really resist, and hopefully after seeing the pictures you’ll understand why.

Mica #131 came out for the first time with the Lumiére celestes collection for summer 2009 and then again in 2010 with the Holiday collection and now, I think, is part of the permanent collection.

It’s a sheer milky pink base packed with pink, purple and teal shimmer. It reminds me of MAC Baby sparks dazzleglass but with tinier, more subtle, shimmer flecks. It’s a very sophisticated kind of shimmer, with fine sparkle but still quite rich looking.

Even if Chanel says that the shades are intense, the whole selection is made of only sheer shades, so the final pigmentation depends on the color of your lips: if they’re too dark, it’s more likely that you’ll only be able to see the sparks.

The texture isn’t drying at all: actually it seems like the gloss seals the moisture on the lips so when the product wears off the lips look soft and hydrated.
The Glossimer formula is quite long lasting without being sticky, and it wears off softly, leaving a natural sheen and a tiny layer of sparkle.

The packaging is elegant and luxurious, with a black screw on top with the brand logo, a gold band and a clear plastic vial that shows the beauty of the gloss inside.
All Chanel Glossimers come with a doe foot applicator. I usually prefer doe foot over brush, but I don’t like this applicator: I have to dig this doe foot many times into the vial to collect enough product. Also, when I apply the gloss on top of lipstick I have to use a lip brush, ‘cause the doe foot is so hard and firm that it drags on the cream underneath, moving the color around.

You get 5.5g/0.19 oz - that is quite an average amount – for €24.90/£20/$29.50. They’re expensive, you wouldn’t expect anything less from a high end brand, but they’re worth the splurge: there’s nothing like Chanel Glossimers on the market. They can be found at Chanel counters and Sephora’s.

Da quando ho deciso di non acquistare troppi lucidalabbra per quest’anno, sono stata molto cauta e diligente con gli acquisti. Sabato scorso ho acquistato il secondo dei 5 gloss che ho il permesso di comprare; è stato un’acquisto d’impulso, ma non ho potuto resistere e, dopo aver visto le foto, capirete il perché.

La mia collezione è composta per la maggior parte di lucidalabbra di MAC, ma qualche volta mi piace coccolarmi con prodotti di qualità maggiore: I Golden gloss di YSL e i Lèvres scintillantes di Chanel, ovvero i Glossimers. La scorsa settimana stavo dando un’occhiata velocissima agli espositori da Sephora e mi è caduto l’occhio su questa bellezza.

Mica #131 ha fatto la sua comparsa per la prima volta nel 2009 con la collezione estiva Lumiére celestes e poi di nuovo nel 2010 con la collezione natalizia ed ora, per quanto ne so, fa parte della collezione permanente.

Si tratta di una base rosa e lattiginosa semi-trasparente con un’iridescenza rosa, viola e verde acqua. Mi ricorda molto il Dazzleglass Baby sparks di MAC ma con glitter decisamente più piccoli e meno evidenti. E’ un luccichio molto sofisticato, con pagliuzze scintillanti fini, ma comunque dall’aspetto molto ricco.
Per quanto Chanel sostenga che i colori siano intensi, l’intera gamma è composta di sole tonalità semi-trasparenti, la cui resa ed intensità dipendeno largamente dal colore di partenza delle labbra.

La texture non secca affatto: anzi, si ha quasi la sensazione che il gloss sigilli l’idratazione nelle labbra che, una volta che il prodotto è svanito, restano morbide ed idratate.
La formula Glossimer dura abbastanza a lungo – decisamente più di quanto ci si aspetterebbe – senza essere troppo appiccicosa, e svanisce delicatamente, lasciandosi alle spalle un sottilissimo strato di glitter e una brillantezza molto naturale. Contiene un gelificante naturale che dona alla texture cremosità e fluidità, ed esteri che rendono il prodotto omogeneo e di facile stesura, ed allo stesso tempo donano morbidezza grazie ad un’azione emolliente.

Il packaging è elegante e lussuoso, come tappo nero con il famoso logo della brand, una striscia dorata e una fiala di solida plastica trasprente che lascia intravedere la bellezza del prodotto.
Tutti i Glossimer sono dotati di applicatore doe foot/a spugnetta. Di solito preferisco la spugnetta al pennellino, ma questo applicatore proprio non mi piace: devo inserirlo nella fiala 4-5 volte per estrarre abbastanza prodotto. In più ogni volta che voglio applicare questo gloss sopra ad un rossetto devo per forza ricorrere ad un pennello, perché l’applicatore è così duro da spostare la crema sottostante.

La fiala contiene 5.5g/0.19 oz – perfettamente nella media – per €24.90. Sono costosi, certo, non ci si può aspettare niente di meno da una brand come Chanel, ma secondo me valgono ogni centesimo: non c’è niente come i Glossimer sul mercato.Potete trovarli nei counter Chanel o da Sephora.
