After all the glitters I used during the holiday season, I went back to an old love, mannequin nails. This nail polish is a very light nude with soft grey undertones.
Laura Mercier Mineral Powder foundation
This is the best find of this past month. After a bad experience with the Bare minerals foundation, I was a little hesitant to try another mineral foundation, but I decided to give it a go anyways and I was amazed: it looks so natural and glowy, not powdery at all. The sample was quite generous and it lasted for 10 uses, but now I can’t wait for the snow to stop to visit the counter and buy the full jar.
MAC Aurora e Copperclast pigment & Sweet and punchy e/s
I’ve been wearing this combination a lot: Aurora all over the lid, Copperclast in the crease and outer V and Sweet and punchy all along the lower lid, with a little bit of Vanilla in the inner corner.
MAC Era e/s
Soft golden beige with shimmer. I feel that this shade doesn’t get enough love: it’s a natural shade that gives just the right amount of definition without looking too made up. I like to use it for a ‘no-makeup’ look or pair it with bright lips.
MAC Tenderling blush
A soft nude pink perfect to pair with natural look or bold eye makeup. And even if it’s not completely matte, is the right shade to use to contour very fair skin tones.
I used to love the MAC 109 to apply liquid foundation but it kept shedding like crazy and I had to replace it with a synthetic brush, but I find that this is the best brush to apply the LM mineral foundation. Same for the Illamasqua blush brush that I use when the 109 is still wet. The Sigma 222 is perfect to apply color in the crease with precision and blend softly without losing the shape.
Skincare wise January has been all about Liz Earle: I’ve been testing their line since Christmas and I’m head over heels in love with this brand. More in depth reviews will be coming soon, meanwhile here are the products I used the most this past month:
Liz Earle Spot-onA mixture of natural oils to put directly on blemishes and scars for fast healing. I’ve been testing it to see how it compares to the Origins super spot remover I previously reviewed – here -.
Liz Earle Superskin concentrate
A rich serum jam packed with essential oils and vitamins to restore and soften dry skin. I’m still deeply in love with my Estee Lauder Advanced night repair – I’ve used up two big bottles so far and I’ve already purchased the third – but somewhere in the middle of the second bottle I felt like it wasn’t working as well as before, as if my skin got used to it, so I decided to try something else before going back to it.
Liz Earle Instant boost skin tonic
I’ve always found tonics too drying for me, but this one soothes, brightens and adds a tin layer of moisture. It’s perfect to use after the
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish hot cloth cleanser
This stuff is really amazing: it takes off all my makeup – even waterproof mascara - while the muslin cloth removes dead skin cells with a gentle exfoliation. My skin definitely looks more radiant and cleared out.

Essie Sand Tropez
Dopo l’overdose di glitter del periodo natalizio, sono tornata ad un vecchio amore, le unghie ‘da manichino’. Questo in particolare è un color nudo chiaro con un delicato sottotono grigio.
Laura Mercier Mineral Powder foundation
Decisamente il prodotto del mese. Dopo una pessima, quasi tragica, esperienza con il fondotinta minerale di Bare Minerals, ero un po’ esitante a provare un altro prodotto minerale, ma mi sono fatta coraggio e sono rimasta senza parole: sembra così naturale e luminoso, assolutamente non polveroso. Il sample che avevo mi è bastato per 10 applicazioni, ma adesso non vedo l’ora che smetta di nevicare per visitare il counter ed acquistare il prodotto full size.
MAC Aurora e Copperclast pigment & Sweet and punchy e/s
Di recente ho indossato questa combinazione spessissimo: Aurora su tutta la palpebra mobile, Copperclast nella piega e nella v esterna e Sweet and Puncy lungo tutta la palpebra inferiore, con un po’ di Vanilla dell’angolo interno.
MAC Era e/s
Beige chiaro con shimmer dorato. Q colore non è apprezzato abbastanza: è una tonalità naturale che aggiunge la giusta definizione senza sembrare eccessivo. Mi piace utilizzarlo per un ‘no-makeup’ look o per accompagnare rossetti brillanti.
MAC Tenderling blush
Un rosa nudo delicate perfetto da accoppiare con un look natural o un trucco occhi più deciso. E anche se non è completamente mat è il colore giusto da usare per il contouring per le pelli chiarissime.
Tempo fa adoravo il pennello 109 di MAC per applicare fondotinta liquidi, ma purtroppo la perdita di setole è fastidiosissima ed ho dovuto sostituirlo con un pennello sintetico, ma ho scoperto che questo è il pennello migliore per applicare il fondotinta minerale di Laura Mercier. Lo stesso vale per il blush brush di Illamasqua che alterno al 109 tra un lavaggio e l’altro. Il 222 di Sigma è perfetto per applicare colore nella piega con precisione e sfumarlo senza modifiucare la forma.
Per quanto riguarda la cura della pelle Gennaio è stato un mese all’insegna di Liz Earle: sto provando la linea da Natale e sono assolutamente inamorata di questo marchio. Presto recensioni più approfondite , ma nel frattempo questi sono I prodotti che ho utilizzato più assiduamente:
Liz Earle Spot-on
Un mix di oli naturali da applicare direttamente su imperfezioni e cicatrici per accelerare la guarigione. Lo sto testando per vedere come si rapporta al Super spot remover di Origins che ho precedentemente recensito – qui -.
Liz Earle Superskin concentrate
Un siero ricco, pieno di oli essenziali e vitamine per rimettere in salute ed ammorbidire la pelle secca. Sono ancora perdutamente innamorata del mio Estee Lauder Advanced night repair – ho già utilizzato 2 intere bottiglie ed ho già acquistato la terza – ma a circa metà della seconda confezione mi è sembrato che perdesse di efficacia, come se la mia pelle si fosse abituata, quindi ho deciso di provare qualcos’altro prima di tornare alla vecchia routine.
Liz Earle Instant boost skin tonic
Ho sempre trovato i tonici troppo disidratanti per la mia pelle, ma questo ha un effetto calmante, illumina e aggiunge un sottile velo di idratazione. E’ perfetto da usare dopo il
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish hot cloth cleanser
Prodotto strepitoso: rimuove tutto il makeup – anche il mascara waterproof – mentre il panno di mussola elimina le cellule morte con una gentile esfoliazione. La mia pelle appare decisamente più radiosa e con meno imperfezioni.
